I don't have an Ipad, but I do have the Itouch, which is very similar, just smaller I think
I love that there are so many cool apps to get for free!

Sharkey, that's why I purchased the iPod touch. I love it - so easy to carry around and I seem to always be near a wifi area so I get to use free internet. I've downloaded a couple of books on it, have all my music, photos, etc. The applications are fun as well - I have my alarm clock on it, a flashlight, various games, weather channel, a recipe database, a Tim Horton's store finder (
) and of course the Facebook app. During the winter olympics I downloaded that app so I could keep up on the latest news.

I would love to get the iPad, but will wait for the second generation and it will give me time to save up the money.

I love Apple products - I love my MacBook, and loved my iPhone until DH gave me his Nexus One Google phone (which I felt compelled to use). DH on the other hand prefers open source products and things he can tinker with.

However, he's super excited about the iPad, whereas I couldn't give 2 hoots about it. I don't see why I would want that over a laptop? It's not THAT much smaller than a laptop, and does so much less.

I have the itouch also and I like it though I dont' use it as often now after I got a netbook, which is so light and small, it's literally no bigger than a regular paperback book, so I carry that with me everywhere because it fits in my regular sized handbag..I still use the itouch when I'm at the gym and need to listen to music.
Honestly, you can get a netbook with a lot more memory for a lot less than the ipad offers. The ipad has very limited memory options IMO, both in ram and hard drive and for what it has, it's overpriced, which is not surprising for an apple product..
I'm sure some people will get it and will love it, but I like to feel like I'm getting a bargain out of everything I buy, so I don't think I'll be getting that..
I wouldn't have gotten the itouch either if I had to pay for it, but my bf got it for me.

My HP Tablet is touchsmart, and has a 12.1" screen. It weighs 4lbs, and is about an inch thick --slightly bigger than the avg netbook... Its also a full computer - with a 2.2 ghz processor, 4 gigs of ram, and a 500gb hard drive, and it wasnt that much more expensive than the ipad....apple products are so expensive for what they are, I dont see myself buying any of them anytime soon (even though they sure are pretty!)

Nuh uh...might give me away!
I'm actually going out to Best Buy today to get the iPod Touch, an upgrade to the iPod classic I currently own. I would really love to be able to quickly and easily access my recipes when I'm baking or decorating cakes, and hauling out my full-size laptop is just silly.
It'll also be nice for quick Web browsing.

Someone suggested that I get an iPad, but for one thing, it's the first generation, which is bound to have issues (don't get me started that one big issue found so far has to do with WiFi cababilities, which wouldn't work properly where I work), but also it's larger and I have good enough eyes that the Touch is big enough.

Which app are you talking about where you can text? I am interested in that! I have been trying to find an app that lets you text while sending texts with your cell phone #and receiving the texts that are sent to your cell phone # on the itouch...
Lol, I doubt that exists, it would be nice though...
