I am new to this and I am enjoying it. I need to get some pics.... but I am learning as I go.

I have out a hopper feeder with safflower seed and a finch sock.

I have seen:
Cardinals (male and female)
House finches (m and f)
American goldfinches (m & f)
Chickadees ( can't tell sexes apart)
White breasted nuthatches ( adorable!)
Mourning doves
Tufted titmice
Pine siskins (I think)
Dark eyed juncos - feeding on the ground
House sparrows
Song sparrows
Blue Jays
Brown headed cowbirds
Starlings

I want to put up another suet box ( raccoons stole the first one) and try to attract some of the local woodpeckers, too.

Yes, we have feeders and most of the birds you mention. I think we are at the same parallel or something.

The raccoons sure do like the suet. One hangs on our suet feeder every night.

Do you notice how the goldfinches have really "yellowed" up lately? They get very drab in the winter.

I bet you kitties like to watch. I know mine do!

Sounds like my feeders only I feed black oil sunflower. I tried safflower last year and mine didn't seem to like it as much.

The most fun I had last year was feeding through the summer and watching the adults bring fledlings to the feeder. Hungry kids make a lot of ruckus!

Oh, I have a squirrel and try to keep him happy with corn, but he does come to the deck and nibble seed.

I have several feeders and a suet feeder also.I used to hang my feeders outside my picture window on one of my maple trees, but the coons ran off with most everything I hung out there.I have a metal awning on the west side of my house, and as luck would have it,it's right over my big picture window, and the awning has a lip.I drilled holes and hung my feeders and no more coon issues.I have a couple of typed of woodpeckers that come on a regular basis all year long....red headed and male and female downys.I love to watch them!I hang a thistle sock for my goldfinches as well.I spoil mine with the feed, though.I buy the songbird mix and mix it with nut and berry.I love to watch them pick out a raisin or cranberry and tear it apart.
