Whiskers?

OK, I hear different things about whiskers and their affect on balance. My new stray I've noticed is not quite as agile as Riot was at her age, or is now. She tends to lean on me a lot, and other little things that just sort of made me wonder about her balance. I figured I would give her some time to get used to having a full belly and see if that helps, that sort of thing. But I did notice today that she is missing some whiskers. On her right side of her face some of her whiskers are cut off looking, they are shorter and such. I just was wondering if that could impact her balance and such.
Thanks!

I doubt that would effect her balance.
When my sister was 4 years old she cut the whiskers of one of my cats and she was fine.
I also have sphynx cats which do not have whiskers and they are like normal cats.
You may want to call the vet and see if something is wrong with her.

Wiskers have very very little to do with balance... the main job of them is so the cat can tell where it can fit... see whickers are as long as the cat is wide..

She might have an inner ear infection. Better bring her to the vet.

By the way, broken off whiskers seem to be common in rescued strays. Jennie's whiskers were a mess she came here, and it took a good year before I stopped seeing a whisker or two with that broken off look.

Can you tell us more about her or is there another thread on her? I'm interested!

that's the initial thread I made when I caught her. she's a cutie pie but we keep having little setbacks. She bit me really hard after getting spooked the other night and I had to go to the ER and get antibiotics and such. It was pretty swollen. But it's getting better now, only 2 days of antibiotics left! She's on my bed watching animal planet right now haha! she loves TV. She gets braver and braver and then something happens to scare her, and we go back to square one. But she's only hissed at me once today, so that's good.
Her ears are a bit dirty looking, so she might have something going on there. She's not nearly as off balance now as she was initially, so it might have had to do with her new belly too.

Whiskers are used for sensory, not equilibrium. Wobbly kitties, or incordinated kitties usually have some ear or neurological problems. I think a vet visit is in order.

Good luck!
