Since tax time is here I have a tax question for you:

Do you file your own taxes or do you bring it to a tax consultant to do it
for you. If you do your own, do you use a program such as Turbo Tax etc. I have a tax consultant who has been doing mine for the past 8 years, before that I did it myself. He has always had me on the receiving end so I have been pleased with him...and for you last minute people, you only have 4 days left

When we owned our own truck, we used an accountant, and it cost about $1100 per year for them to do all our accounting. Now I'm back to doing it with TaxCut, which is the H. & R. Block program.

I did it myself for a few years until Rob had self employment stuff, which was above me. Used to use H&R Block Online,

Since 2008 (tax year 07), we've been using other people. Turns out the lady we used for 07 and 08 taxes didn't really know what she was doing...hubby had to pay in for self employment both years, and our current tax preparer (who's mainly for contractors & self employ) said that for the first 5 years you shouldn't have to pay anything in. She's working on our big pile of documents - school, mortgage interest, charity donations to SPCA, my W-2, Rob's pile of stuff, bank interest, property taxes, etc! So much stuff! She may or may not be finished by April 15 but will be filing an extension for us if she wont be. She has 30 years of experience with this stuff, so hopefully it'll go over better than the previous person (who actually no longer is located where she was!)

For many years, I had mine done by a CPA, but each year his fee went up (until it got just ridiculously expensive.) I decided to try TurboTax five or six years ago. I got the same amount of refund, and it cost WAY less. It was really easy, and I was rather miffed that I had been spending so much to have them done by someone else. I usually do my taxes in early February, when I'm sure that I've received all of my tax forms. My refund is direct deposited by mid February, and usually spent shortly thereafter.

I've never had mine done professionally since I started working a part time job in high school, first my mom did them for me
who is not an accountant btw, and then I used a software I think it was called Tax Act..
I haven't had to file recently b/c I haven't had a job

We have an accountant for the business so he does our taxes as well, it doesn't cost much more than tax software to add on the personal taxes to the business ones since he has to work out how much we paid ourselves anyway

I do ours myself. I don't use a tax program. Anyway I do it, with an accountant, with a tax program, myself, we always have to pay.
