It's just SO huge. I am so thankful that I found this forum, where all of you worship your kitties like I do. I have never wanted to have human kids of my own (though I believe I am a born aunt - currently 2 handsome nephews and 4 beautiful nieces
) and just as my siblings wonder what they did before their kids came along, I wonder what I did before Holland came along. I have only had her for a year and a half, but she has been such a BIG presence in my life, I am thankful for her every day when I wake up in the morning and every night when I go to sleep.

Mystic Spiral, I enjoy your anecdotes of Holland. She is so full of cattitude. However, I have never seen Holland's photo and would like to see the face to match the personality.

I love, love, love that picture of her.
She's so gorgeous!

Isn't it amazing how they can work their ways into our hearts by just being themselves?

Y'know, I was gonna post that but you beat me to it
Even when we meet other humans, we often try to change them and say "I would love you if you only change such-and-such about yourself."

But with cats, they seem to teach us the lesson of "Love me as I am. Meow!"

I know exactly how you feel hun. My kitties are very much my kids, and although I am also an aunt, my kitties are the only "kids" I'll ever have and I don't know what I'd do without them!

Me too. I never wanted any human babies, and am so in love with my furbabies that I literally don't know what I'll do if something happens to this latest batch. I guess it's because I'm home all the time now with them and never was before. All I know is, they better outlive me. My hubby was already retired when we lost our last one, and he said never again...he was an emotional basketcase. Well, that only lasted 6 months before we started adopting again. Now I'm retired and I know exactly where he's coming from. They are now our entire lives. (sad, but true!!)

I love that!!
What is it about our little furbabies that gets us SO wrapped around their little paws?!? I can be sitting on the couch with Holland curled up in my lap and have my leg fall asleep. But I don't move because I don't want to disturb the baby! When I'm in bed and lying on my side, Holland likes to lay on my hip. Even if I want to roll over, I don't because I don't want to disturb the baby!

What a great thread. I feel the same way, no human kids for me, thanks. And my love for Genever is so big too!! Like you said, this forum is an awesome place to share our feelings and brag about our furbabies. I talk about G-cat way too much in real life anyway, but on here I don't feel like a mad woman or anything, because you alll understand and feel the same way!

By the way, I love Hollands' eyes!! And her fur, and her ears, and he rest...

I know just how you feel!

You know, I can remember feeling that way about a cat, even as far back as when I was a girl. I was about ten I think and sitting in the kitchen with my cat Muffin in my arms. My mother was there, too. I suddenly felt so much love for Muffy I thought my heart would break, and I burst out to my mother "Mom, I love Muffy SO MUCH!" and I could feel tears start in my eyes.

My mother turned to look at me, at us, and said "I know what you mean".

Holland says "Thanks!"
She has such a sleek black coat and beautiful gold eyes. She is just perfect.

Genever is no slouch either. I love that kitty.

otto - the very first pet I had that was truly "mine" was a poodle we took in from neighbors who were moving to a retirement home where they couldn't take her. I was 7 years old, and although she was adopted by my family, she CHOSE me. Except for when my grandpa was around - she sure did love him!!
I was in high school when she was in such poor health (and about 17 years old) that my parents finally decided to put her down. They gave me the choice to be with her at the time, and I didn't go to the vet with them - I didn't think I could handle it. If only I knew then what I know now... I still regret not being there to hold her when she passed.
