Nabu is doing well on the California Natural Chicken & Rice dry (i.e. solid poops & good weight) but when he goes #2 it just about peels paint from the walls.
I don't know if that is that normal for IBD cats? He still gets FF wet, but #2 didn't smell like that on his old dry food + FF wet.

We haven't tried Natural Balance dry L.I.D food mainly because I don't know if samples are available and Nabu is unbelievable picky.

I saw the new Blue Buffalo Basics in my email and was just wondering what anyone thought? Otherwise I'm happy to continue with what he's doing OK on aside from smell.

IMHO would not call it basic but it is a solid with grain formula ...

Ingredients

Deboned Turkey, Turkey Meal
, Whole PotatoesPink as how do we know they ensured NO green parts or eyes got in, Oatmeal, Peas, Whole Ground Brown Rice, Canola Oil (naturally preserved with Mixed Tocopherols, a natural source of Vitamin E), Natural Turkey Flavor, Flaxseed (natural source of Omega 3 and 6 Fatty Acids)Oil is the most usuable to kitty them meal whole is ideally a fiber source , Whole Carrots, Cranberries, BlueberriesPowder again would be better not really all that usuable , Barley Grass, Dried Parsley, Alfalfa Meal, Dried Kelp, Taurine, Yucca Schidigera Extract, L-CarnitineAids in fat metabolism and common in Light or indoor formulas, L-Lysine, TurmericIMHO not something I would want fed everyday, Oil of Rosemary, Dried Chicory Root, Beta Carotene, Vitamin A Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B1), Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Niacin (Vitamin B3), d-Calcium Pantothenate (Vitamin B5), Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Biotin (Vitamin B7), Folic Acid (Vitamin B9), Vitamin B12 Supplement, Calcium Ascorbate (source of Vitamin C), Vitamin D3 Supplement, Vitamin E Supplement, Iron Amino Acid Chelate, Zinc Amino Acid Chelate, Manganese Amino Acid Chelate, Copper Amino Acid Chelate, Choline Chloride, Sodium Selenite, Calcium Iodate, Salt, Caramel, Potassium Chloride, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bacillus subtilis, Enterococcus faecium.

Guaranteed Analysis
Crude Protein \t30.0% min
Crude Fat \t12.0% min
IMHO too low fat and protein looks like a indoor or senior formula
Crude Fiber \t3.5% max
Moisture \t10.0% max
Magnesium \t0.08% min
Taurine \t0.15% min
Omega 3 Fatty Acids* \t0.6% min
Omega 6 Fatty Acids* \t2.5% min
I prefer 3 plus

It's a little bit grain heavy, in my opinion. I also agree that the protein and fat levels are a bit low. Overall though, not a bad food.
