Ok I got this cool toy at Wal-Mart(it is a cheaper & smaller version of ones sold at Petco and PetSmart)for the bargain price of $11.20. Your cat can smack, swat, stop and touch the "captive" ball as it travels along around the perimeter of the toy but she/he can`t pull it out of the toy.

Anyways here are some pics as I think I even confused myself with that paragraph! lol

Alley LOVES this thing and has even taken to "sneaking up" the ball when it is in motion.I often hear her in the wee hours of the morning playing with it.
A friend of mine bought the nicer one from Petco and it is larger and the ball actually lights up.

Just sharing.

Thank you,blueyedgirl5946! She sure gets into playing with this silly toy though--she`ll s-t-r-e-t-c-h out and likes to push and/or pull the toy across the floor.

Finally I bought something she really enjoys!

Isn't it thrilling when we buy something for them that turns out to be a hit? I'm glad Alley is enjoying her new toy!

I think, that instead of a butterfly on top it needs an alien.
I don't know if any of mine would play with something like that, my luck would be that none of them would like it and a couple of them would even be terrified of it.
But who knows, I might try it sometime.

I already know that light up balls are out. They spook Sherman and Sho.

I have the same toy! Except ours is blue with a mouse on the "post" instead of a butterfly. And my Holland is a black kitty too...
I love when she is laying next to it, batting the ball around in a ho-hum, lazy kind of way.

I got this when I adopted Butters! He really seems to enjoy it!

They also have these other little toys for $20 a piece...kind of the same thing but motorized. There are three different types. One is this globe, and it has all of these butterflies inside...and you turn it on and the butterflies "fly" out and the cat catches them.

I'm still thinking about how much fun that one could be...

Same here, and Jamie has probably played with it twice. I'm going to give it to the local shelter, along with a ton of other toys he just doesn't like.

Jamie got one from his Aunt Katie for Christmas, and he's constantly batting it around or pretending it's trying to "get him".

I have one of those, it entertains Attitude and Nuts for hours when they use it. If one is using it the other joins in and one hits the ball one way and the other catches it and knocks it the other way. Rarely do they agree on which direction the ball should go.

I think it is the most played with toy I have bought. The first night they played with it for hours. Attitude kept chasing the ball in circles until she got dizzy and fell over. Then she got up and chased the ball in circles again.

Only annoying thing is it's so light it gets moved all around the living room. Thankfully it is big and colorful enough that you see it. Unlike their catnip ball which I have slipped on and almost fallen and killed myself a few too many times.
