When I rescued Jennie she had been living as a stray for quite a long time, and raised a family of four kittens all on her own.
It took some time for her to stop being nervous, she didn't get up on furniture at first, and when she did start, if she saw me looking at her she would flinch and jump down. It took about six months for her to feel comfortable on the furniture.
She had a Swivel Head. Constantly swiveling her head around to check behind herself and all around. That took a little longer to leave, about a year.
However she has never lost her habit of the Raised Hackle, at least not yet. It's so funny, and I tease her gently about it from time to time.
(She also has atrocious street language. The other cats were quite shocked at her language at first. She has toned it down some, but not completely and we've all gotten used to it, but she still can blister the paint on the walls)
Anyway here's Jennie's Hackle. hehe.
