We have been in a wind warning all day. Winds are gusting at about 100 km/h, that's about 62 mph. And this is the result so far.

Those shingles were done just 3 years ago. Thankfully that's not my house, but the wind is still blowing strong so who knows what could happen.

I can't tell, but did they shingle over the old layer (it's fine to do this, just don't have too many layers) ? If so, and not done very well, it can make them peel up in the wind like that.

We get some pretty rough winds here.. that's what Oklahoma is known for.
(actually I think all of the Great Plains region gets winds like this) That sort of wind is average for a lot of our storms - it starts getting scary when they get over 75mph since that means the straight line winds will be even worse.

They seldom shingle over more than one layer of old shingles here, Strange Wings, just not worth it with the horrible winds we have here, and yes, anywhere on the plains is windy, and we are silly to live here!!!ROFL

Tiger, good thing you don't work for SGI, looks like quite a mess from what little I saw on the news (stupid dish is waving a bit), and they say lots of trees down in the city. No power in many places. At least we didn't get the crap they got north. Pretty bad when they close highways and semis are flipped over.

It has calmed down enough now to go poke around in the dark and wallow in the mud to do chores. What annoys me is this is gonna go on for a couple more days, so says the weather liar.

Nope they're brand new shingles nailed into brand new plywood and rafters. The family that lives there moved in about 8 years ago and after 5 years they decided to completely redo the roof. It had water damage from a few years before they moved in.

I don't know how familiar you are with Regina, but the big SGI building downtown had to be evacuated. It was swaying a lot and a few windows popped out and the east wall of the basement has all but disintegrated. And the parkade for the Cornwall Centre had to be evacuated because it was cracking. And that's with brand new re-bar and concrete just 2 years ago.

Yeah, I know where SGI is, but wasn't aware of them doing something with Cornwall Centre parkade. I DO try to avoid downtown when I come in to Regina, usually come in as far as the Golden Mile and that is that, unless I need stuff from the north end (Cowtown, House of Bolts, Princess Auto) and if I head to my vet, I go across country and avoid the whole mess entirely
Gads, been a year since I been that way.

Thankfully the age of innovative building materials is fairly young, so what the future holds will be exciting, provided we don't see a World War III
