Ok, I don't know what to think anymore...

My periods are two weeks late now and I have had nausea (no vomiting though), heartburn, lower back pain, weirdly sensitive sense of smell and sore breasts. Last weekend, my sister in law asked me if I was pregnant (that was weird... I didn't tell her anything).
Also, about two weeks after my last period, me and my boyfriend had a little contraception accident.

I took a pregnancy test last night and it was negative. I know that pregnancy tests can give false negatives if taken too early, but that was certainly not the case. Could it still give a false negative that late? Or can I be pretty sure that I'm not pregnant?
I guess if nothing happens by next week, I'll try again...
We were not trying to have a baby now, but we would both be thrilled if it happened. In fact, I cried for hours last night after getting the test results.

My advice is to go see your doc and get a proper exam and test.

It's still early, and yes you can still get a false negative from the tests. Definitely time to see a doctor. It's likely you won't be able to get an appointment immediately, so call now. If you get your period before the appointment time you can always cancel.

I kept getting negative tests up until I was 7 weeks pregnant - the doc finally did a blood test and that showed I was pregnant.

There are other hormonal things that can cause all those symptoms. Make an appointment with your doctor to be sure though

Unfortunately I don't have a regular doctor (I've been moving around too much for that) and I can't go spend the day at the walk-in clinic-too much work to do. So it will have to wait.
For now, I'll take care of myself as if I was pregnant. Just in case.

You will need to go to an obstetrician rather than a family doctor anyway. I don't know where you're located, but most insurance plans do not require a referral to go to an OB. If you know anybody who has young children, ask who they saw and whether they liked the doctor. You can always look in the phone book for doctors near you, but that doesn't tell you anything about them. There are online services that rate doctors.

You might have to call several doctors before you find one who is taking new patients. Even then it could be several weeks before you can get in. I urge yuo to start making calls now so that if you are pregnant you can get your prenatal care started early.

Seeing a family doctor is fine at this stage - they can run a blood test and confirm if she's pregnant. You don't necessarily need a walk-in clinic if you don't have your own doctor - just call up any family doctor's nearby and see if they can fit you in.

But then, if you are pregnant, you will definitely need to find an obstetrician.

Find a planned parenthood clinic near you, you can search here by putting in your zip code, they are all over the US:
http://www.plannedparenthood.org/

They offer free blood tests and 1 free ultra sound, if your pregnancy test is positive. And they do take appointments.

Not necessarily. Not sure how it is in the USA, but here in Canada, many general practioners aka family doctors, care for pregnant women throughout their pregnancy and deliver the babies at the end of it too.

I'm in Canada, so paying for the doctor isn't an issue

Still no news, except that I still feel sick and my SIL emailed me again to ask if I was pregnant

I'm not sure when I'll be able to go to the clinic, but at the very least I'll do another test soon (this time in the morning and without drinking a big glass of juice right before)

update:

I took one more test yesterday afternoon, still negative.
I was ready to take another one this morning and then go to the doctor on Tuesday, but my period just started.

I am so disappointed. I kept having that little hope that the tests were wrong and now it's all over.

I'm sorry your disappointed

If you are trying to get pregnant, why not just plan for it, talk it out with your SO, etc? You might actually avoid some stress that way than if it just happens.

We did have a good talk about it, and his main hesitation is that he wants to buy a house before having kids. We have money for it, so we'll start shopping soon
