Da Bird

Da Bird is a hit at this house!

All cats seem to have their favorites (Domino likes this one toy that I can't STAND...it's a wand-type with the attachment, but it's heavy and just super annoying to me, but whatever...Rosalita likes the door-scratchers and little balls...and ANYTHING WITH FEATHERS ON IT IS BUTTERS' TOY OMG DO NOT TOUCH IT!) here...but Butters is being UNREAL with this thing.

I bought a pack of the replacements, and it literally lasted a few hours. He rips the feathers off mercilessly, and that's the end of the toy. Put a new one on now please!

It turns out -- anything we put on Da Bird is just fine for him...I don't really get why THAT is more exciting to him (just the stick!) than something else, but whatever. Anyone have any suggestions for a STURDY feather toy I can string up at the end of Da Bird for him? I can't buy 29485783839 replacements. Sadly

Also -- when he first met the other two, when he'd have Da Bird in his mouth, he would growl like a dog and take it away into another room. He's not so much doing this now, but I've never heard a cat growl in a possessive situation before! It was cute...but also a little alarming. I'm glad we're past that now.

Big hit here too... But this one is the biggest hit, as far as attachment goes... nothing comes even close to it... Not sure why, not sure what it is made of, but it drive them MAD!
It is pretty long lasting, I have had mine for a while, thank goodness... Your post actually reminds me to buy another one... Kitties all thumbs up!
One down thing about it: Hard to find locally...

That is too funny! They go totally wild with it here! Even Lucky who is a turbo scratcher kind of gal will give it a try! They like the feathers ok, but the mouse drives them NUTS.

Yeah they LOVE the puff and three of them go crazy for the sparkler, they will all play with the feathers, but the feather is definitely Autumn's favourite (it was the first toy she ever had ) but the mouse, they dont even move

I had to order it from the US too because nowhere up here stocks it, it ended up being a present to the shelter kitties

My cats destroy it very fast.

I cant have wand toys in the house. Having a dog that is basically the same size as my cats but twice as heavy tends to end badly with wand toys. Either Franklin chews them up or gets so wrapped up in trying to play with everyone that he kitty-pults the cats into a wall or chair shoving them out of his way. It is quite hilarious but after we almost had WW3 erupt cuz GiGi caught the toy and Franklin tried to play we removed all wand toys from the house. Even Franklin got punished and is not allowed to have his squeaker balls anymore unless supervised outside.

I try not to let mine catch DaBird, they chase and leap but if I let them catch it's destroyed.

I buy refils in bulk, they prefer the feather over the sparkler or puff attachments. We've also tried the mouse mentioned above but they don't like it at all and just walk away from me

Oh Sweet Jesus! My Callie LOVES the STRING on dabird! She also goes nuts for the sparkler attachment. Hannah on the other hand goes APE for the mouse. I have to keep it in the drawer away from her and if I even think of stepping near the drawer she meows unmercifully and pathetically until I get it out, put it on the end of the string and let her play with it.

Da Bird if clearly the favorite toy at our house. You have to let them catch it sometimes...

I also buy the replacements in bulk for a catalog instead of a retail outlet. I have also tried just gluing more feathers in but I cannot get the "spin" motion of the originals.

Red used to pant and drool when playing with the Da Bird.
