What to do with tick on eyelid?

Hi, I'm new here! I'd be very grateful if someone could tell me what to do about a tick in a rather difficult location. One of my cats has a tick on his eyelid, barely a millimeter away from the eyeball, so I don't dare go near it with anything. Is it safe to just leave the tick there until it falls off, or can having a tick in this location be actually dangerous for the eye and should I go to the vet?
