A local feral cat protection group, a relatively new thing, has teamed up with a local rescue and started a program called Cans for Cats. People donate aluminum cans which are recycled and they go toward TNR, trapping kittens young enough to be socialized, and maintaining some foster homes. Apparently the kitten population has gone down so much here that the rescue said they would take ALL the trapped kittens and try to get them adopted. This group also works with the military to try to rehome pets of deployed Marines that would otherwise go to the local high kill shelter.
The girl that came to get my cans said that they would be enough to pay for 3 spays or neuters with the deal the vet is giving them. Just today she had recycled enough cans to pay for 10, and this is the first day the ad had been on the website.
I am going to ask if I can put a trash can on the cab lot and ask the drivers to donate the cans they clean out of the cabs at the end of their shifts.

That's a GREAT thing!
We're actually doing the same thing here with Cat Rescue Maritimes. Every little bit helps!

That's a great idea! Recycling and making money for a good cause.
