Has anyone ever done a poll on this site to determine how many cats are owned by the folks who post here. I bet there are many. I only have two now since the loss of Speedboat. But I see that some of you have many. What determines the number of cats you give a home too. I never had more than three as I felt that was all I could really afford to give good care to.

And for me - I often have rotating kitties as I foster on & off. I know there are many others who have the same thing. Or some people have a new outdoor stray/feral show up - so some people count those as "their" cats & some don't.

Only one here. We live in a smaller home and have two big dogs as well, so it wouldn't be practical to get anymore cats at the moment.

I just have the one. The reason is she is all I can afford, by that I mean vet bills. I know I could afford to feed another one but vet bills are very high and so is the flea medication so I could not afford that. I have always wanted to have 3 kitties or at least 2.

I have 5 gorgeous furbabies and I love them all to bits. I have been getting a broody for another one lately but it wouldn't be right I don't think as my girls (and boy
) are very well settled. x

I have two cats. Realistically that's all I can afford to feed, insure & pay vet's bills for.
Besides, I don't think Ripley has ever completely forgiven us for getting Newt!

8 here of my own along with currently 2 adult fosters and 2 foster kittens who will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. I spend a fortune taking care of my babies, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I adore them and wouldn't have them if I couldn't properly care for them.

Trapped in the catroom! ;o)
I have 3 indoor and 1 outside that I feed and have kind of been claimed as his caretaker. Hopefully when we move BF will let us trap him and take him with to make him a garage kitty or hopefully a fully inside cat. Having a dog Im limited on my pets and am NOT allowed anymore. BF says we have too many as it is however we wouldnt part with any because he loves them as much as I do!

2 cats. If I had a lot of outdoor space, I think I would have 5
Currently I have zero outdoor space

well, my limit was 4 - i never intended to have 5. but i was unable to find a home for Firefox after nursing her back to health, so she's here.
my house is only 927 sq.ft. & i only have room for 4 litterboxes - that's really the issue. i'd prefer not to have the cats outnumber the boxes.

I had 5 up until January this year. We had to say goodbye to our sweet Emma after she was diagnosed with squamous carcinoma of the mouth. We're going to leave it at 4 for now because two of the ones we have were strays that showed up. That way if another one shows up in need, we'll have room.

Well, my limit is absolutely 2 according to dh, but we have 4. He rescued Fluffy, the last addition. If I have any more than 4, something terrible always happens to one of them, and we get back down to 4. There was recently a darling tortie polydactyl that I rescued, but was afraid to keep her, so the rescue I took her to found her a wonderful home. When the current crew starts going, hopefully a long time from now, I will get down to 2 and stay there.
