Poor lil Bill.

Please keep my foster kitten Bill in your thoughts and send lots of vibes. As is quite normal with shelter foster cats/kittens, he has developed a very bad URI and is having one hell of a time breathing. Where it is viral, it just has to run it's course, but I have a vaporizer going to help him breathe. I may need to suppliment him with some KMR because he is obviously having a hard time feeding with his stuffy nose and he is only 2 and a half weeks old. I have been through this time and time again with fosters and have had some make it through fine but have lost others. PLEASE keep your fingers crossed that this little one will make it through just fine.

Many vibes...

Gee, not even three weeks old? That's so unfair. I have no experience with such tiny kittens, so could not say whether putting tiny drops of saline in his nostrils would be too much for him. If he could handle it, doing only one nostril at a time, it might make him sneeze and clear out a little of his congestion. I've done it with older kittens, and it helps some, although they don't appreciate it until the big wet sneezes come.

Best of luck with little Bill, and please keep us posted.

Thank you everyone. I bought some saline solution to try when I get home from work and also have some KMR to try to keep his strength up. I just hate this helpless feeling... I just hope he can pull through it. It's so hard when they're so tiny!

Well Bill made it through the night. Seeing him last evening I SERIOUSLY didn't think he would, poor little doll. This morning he was still mouth breathing, but his nose didn't seem as stuffy. He is so incredibly weak... I syringe fed him a bit, but of course he wasn't too interested. I just hope beyond all hope that he can pull through this. Keep those vibes coming, he's a little fighter!

He didn't make it. His thread is in the crossing the bridge section.

You did your best Kailie. This is proof that URI can take kittens fast. Anyone reading this - if you end up with a sick kitten, don't wait around.
