My 2 cats were eating Fancy Feast, but it was getting expensive, so I began experimenting. I bought a can of Friskies, and to my delight, they liked it!! Woohoo! So for the past 3 months I've been feeding them Friskies in 4 different flavors of pate without a problem.

Now, with no warning, they are refusing the Friskies in any flavor. I have thrown away at least 2 large cans of food in the past week

At this point I will also say that I keep a feeder of dry on hand, and about the same time as they began refusing the canned Friskies, I started feeding them dry Kirkland (Costco brand) which they seem to love. So what's going on here? Are they telling me that they would rather eat all dry and no wet food?

Can I ask a stupid sounding question? did you check the use by or exp date on the cans?

Some cats just tire of things and need a regular rotation

I didn't think to check the dates on the cans, but just looked in the pantry, and all the cans have 2012 dates, so I don't think that is it.

It's just odd that both of them are refusing the food at the same time. I think they must love the new dry food. I'm not going back to Fancy Feast!

Probably a "bad batch". Some food manufacturers go for the cheapest bidder on ingredients, which means the food will be inconsistent. One batch may have ingredients from supplier A, the next time they find supplier B, who sells the same thing for a lot less, (and usually a lot poorer quality)

Cats' noses can tell the difference.

Don't discount feeding SOME kind of wet food. Try Authority. Here it is 68 cents for a 6 ounce can whereas most "tuna-sized" cans are 5.5 oz.

ETA: FF here works out to be a dollar for a six oz can at a minimum and is really not that good of a food.. so Authority is a happy medium choice, IMO.
