Please help!

Hi Guys
We are in desperate need of some help!

Our 2.5 y/o desexed boy Teddy has 2 litter trays. His blue one is in the garage (where he spends most of his time) and his red one is in the bathroom next to our toilet. The blue one he is fine with, but when he urinates in the red one, he always misses the tray! Every day! I asked our local vet how we could stop this and she said maybe it is because he doesnt have enough room to turn around and prepare etc etc, so we moved the red litter tray to a larger area, but still in the same room and he still kept on missing.

Both trays have the same litter and are the same size, brand etc, the only difference is the colour. What can we do?

Does he use the red one only to urinate, and the blue one only to do the other thing? If so, I'd get a bigger box with higher edges and stick that in the bathroom.

Or, try getting another blue one and replace your red one.

It may sound crazy, but you do know cats can't see red, right? I don't know if that would have any affect on his aiming, but trying a larger box of another color wouldn't hurt.

For an interesting experiment, try switching the boxes to see if the color is a factor. That would be fascinating to me.

If it's not the color, I guess he just wants a taller litterbox in the bathroom. I use plastic storage bins with a hole cut in the side.
