My sister just called me. She said her cat came running in from the garage meowing, and her blinds were rattling. They had a 6.9 magnitude earthquake in Baja California.

Yes, felt it here in the Coachella Valley - near Palm Springs, CA.

Some of our cats ran, others just stayed in their perspective beds. Funny how that worked out. The cats that are usually the most laid-back were the ones that decided to get a move on, the others just rode it out.

All are accounted for. Whew!

It was upgraded to a 7.2. That is big.

You know - that really seems more right to me - that 6.9 measure, - nah!, not the way it shook our house.

Didn't feel anything here in the Bay Area. I hope no one is hurt. I live in California and I love it here, but I have my head in the sand when it comes to the coming "big one".

The center was in Mexico. I hope Rigel is ok! Left him a message on Facebook and Twitter too.

I think he's more to the south and east, on the Gulf of Mexico have you checked this link:
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquak.../us/index.html
?

The Quake epicenter was West of him, nearer San Diego CA, I believe - someone will correct me if I'm wrong, I'm sure.

So, hopefully his location will not be as effected.
Hopefully we'll hear from him soon.

I have friends in Seal Beach, CA and they said that it seemed like a long quake for them. I hope those around the epicenter are OK.

globalspot28, my GF says the same thing about having her head in the sand when it comes to the big one. She says she knows it's going to happen, but she doesn't worry about it.

Ah, yes, BF and I were in Tampa over the weekend so we missed it, I'm glad. Genever was staying with our friend Scott and he sent us a text after it happened saying it was a really long quake but not strong in Long Beach. Genever was not freaked out.

Scary still!!

Feel better soon Rigel!!

I lived in San Diego all of the 70's and we had one small earthquake. I was scared since we hadn't lived there all that long at the time. The only thing that happened was my glassware in my china cabinet started shaking and I felt like the house moved a little. The broadcast news said tho that it was a minor quake but it sure scared the heck outta me. Hope all are safe in beautiful San Diego.
