My cat has diarrhea and she is due right now. She would have been due between March 30 and April 5th. I have been watching her poop and it is not really runny, just soft and there is no blood in it. I have been cleaning up her back end as much as possible.

Yesterday around 3pm her vulva seemed to be leaking a pinkish fluid and she was laying on her side holding one leg up. I thought she was going into labor. She went into her closet and stayed there around 2 hours just laying on her side or grooming her stomach. I checked on her every hour until well after midnight and then went to bed. First thing this morning she is out walking around her nursery room, eating her kibbles, drinking water and rubbing against me, purring. I cupped my hands under her tummy and can feel moving kittens down each side.

The ultrasound showed at least three kittens, possibly 5 or 6 and she is HUGE. Right now she is laying on the floor, stretched out and in no distress. I have called the vet office to get the emergency number just in case, but there doesn't seem to be a reason to call yet. I have definitely learned to time out the due date before breeding in the future. Kittens over Easter is not the way to go (except I can be home 24/7 and not at work I guess).

I have some memory their last poo before giving birth may be loose. It is natures way of secureing they have easy to do poo in this last, touchy moment.

Of course be observant. As long it isnt runny not much to worry about.

You did x-ray, so you are the vets paying patient now during pregnancy?
So this should also mean you can phone him practically any time??

If you worry, do phone, you dont always need to have the cat visiting the vet in person.

Good luck!

She is still happy and not in distress. It's hard to feel kittens since she is so fat and she won't stay still. If I sit with her when she is laying down, she gets up and marches in circles around me, kneading with her paws and purring. I finally got her onto a pillow on my lap and had my hands under her belly. I could feel little pokes and wiggles on my fingers, so I know they are alive and well in there.

She's on day 63 now so no real need to panic since she has a few more days left to be considered late. Still some leakage from her vulva but nothing much.

I don't think you really have to worry too much yet. As long as she's happy and you can still feel them, they should be fine... Diarrhea is preety common in prgnant cats from my experiences. Has she changed her type of food recently?
Oh, and I know what you mean when you go over when they're lying down to try to feel the little babies, but the second you start to go to them they pop up to get attention

Suuri was exactly the same this last week I thought she had to go at any minute and she finally did last night. But the minute I looked at her last night I could tell this was real. Goodluck she's getting ready and that's a good sign!

I'm posting this update here as well as in Breeders Corner, just in case some people here don't read that forum.

No kittens, yet. She isn't even showing any signs of wanting to have kittens! She is not technically past her due date yet, but I'll call the vet with her exact day of gestation if she hasn't started by tomorrow. I held her earlier and I can feel them inside, wiggling around.

I checked the dates again - she was bred on Jan 29, 30 and 31 - so 65 days would be April 4, 5, or 6th. I am not sure when to start the count, on the first day of mating or the last. We all know that there can be 4 days on either side of the average 65 days. So she could be due anywhere between April 1st to April 10...

Her first pregnancy, she had them earlier than I was expecting and she surprised me by having them in my crawlspace. This time I have had her locked into the nursery room for a month prior to get her used to it. Over the weekend, my sister was here and somehow let Sky escape. I don't even know how, as Sky doesn't even try to escape when I come in to visit her. Sky raced down and into the crawlspace, and we had to lure her out with freeze dried chicken treats.

One thing that everyone agrees on, she is huger than any pregnant cat they have seen before. She did get huge for her first pregnancy as well. I thought that may mean she'd go earlier than later.

Of course, she decided to have her kittens last night. Just after I let my guard down. I stayed up til 1am with her (no signs) and then checked her when I got up at 7am. She was having the last one, which was not alive. I rubbed it and it was limp. She had one more, and it was not alive either.

So, three live kittens. And they are beautiful. We think one boy and two girls.

I waited for the vet to open and called them. Since I didn't witness the first few births and there were no placentas laying around, they wanted to x-ray her (in case of another kitten). She x-rayed clear and her temp and gums look good.

Pretty sad about the two still births, and wondering if I were there and noticed any distress they would have made it. Vet says there is a good chance they may not have made it in any case, but the guilt is still there.

I agree.
It must also happened fairly quick. I dont think anything would change much even if you were awake and trying to help.
