My babies are 13 days old today, 2 weeks old tomorrow!!

Everyone has their eyes open! One orange kitten has one fully open eye but the other eye is still partly closed. Is this ok?

When will they start walking?
and playing
and exploring

When will their ears 'open'?
When will they wean?
When can they retract their claws?
When will they start puberty?

When can they start eating canned kitten food?
When can I start buying toys and toys and toys!?!??!

I'm so excited and happy and I love kittens!!

ps: their appointment for altering is July 9th, they will be 14 weeks old then.

I'm having a hard time getting pictures of them now because they are constantly wiggling around now. But here are some pictures I took a few days ago!!

(ps: these are big pictures so if you have a slow connection it might take a while for them to load.)

Des, what little dolls!!!

I'll try answering some of your questions.

When will they start walking?
and playing
and exploring

Walking starts anytime really, but with their legs straight, you're looking at around 3 weeks

Kitten weaning depends on mom. Most times, it's around 8 weeks.

The claw retraction I'm not sure, but I would say by 6 weeks for sure.

Ears should be open now.

Puberty usually is entered between 4-6 months depending on the individual cat.

Kitten food, I usually start them on soft when they are 4 weeks. It is also when I start the litter training.

Toys, small and light...foam balls and small mice I always keep them in the room, they find them...mostly by 4 weeks. I then engage playtime with them, show them how the ball works etc.

Hope some of this helps

My kittens are 3 weeks old today, well above their weights for the age. I think they're doing wonderfully and god, we're so in love with them. I won't be keeping any, I'm expecting another litter of Sphynx in 2 weeks and then another mid-May.

If by catbox training you mean litter box training, I do it at 4 weeks old. I just use the KittenAttract litter, then put them in it after they've eaten--usually 10 mins after, show them how to dig in it, and then they usually figure it out from there.

I've trained my last two litters like that and next week I'll train these current babies at the same time the same way.

Anymore questions, just ask

how come when I approach the kittens, they start screaming and meowing and panicking? they do it when meatloaf approaches too.

are they really that frightened?

our second litter in the back room doesn't make a peep when approached

Is Meatloaf their momma? If so, they might just be REALLY excited to eat.....piggies! If not, and they really are scared, it might mean that they need more handling and socialization.

the 3 kittens just took their first steps from the nest!!!

I had to change their bedding so I moved them to the other side of the closet and as I was changing blankets they hobbled out of the closet about a foot away and were sniffing things.

they were so wobbly and a little jerky and at first they seemed a little scared but then they got braver and ventured a little ways out but Meatloaf panicked and brought them back.

I love them!!! it is going to be sooo hard to give them away

Box-training kittens is really easy if the mom cat is trained. Just put the box where they can see their mom doing that, and set them into the litter every now and then...eventually the "hey, this is a great place to dig" neurons will fire in their goofy little heads, and digging when they use the bathroom is a hardwired instinct for cats, so they should take it from there for themselves.
