So I went back to the Neurologist today and he said both my EEG and MRI came back normal, but that doesn't mean I'm not having seizures. He put me on a low dose of Tegretol to start with and said that most likely it wouldn't stop them at first b/c the dose is so low, but we'll get it figured out. They tend to congregate around the first of the moth, and I hadn't had one since March 7th, but of course I get one on my way home from work today. Why couldn't I have got one two days ago when I had my tests?? *grumble*
I didn't mention anything about getting pregnant to him yet b/c hubby and I decided to wait for a while and get this figured out first. This medication is a class D, though, so if and when we decide to go ahead with actively trying to get pregnant again I will most likely need to change meds. It also clearly states that the med is passed through breast milk and can cause harm to the baby, and I plan to breast feed.
He also told me about all of these bad side effects, which I'm not looking forward to. He even said he started me out on a low dose b/c he didn't want to get me completely stoned right off the bat. HAHA If this med is that bad, I'm not looking forward to working (or trying to) while on it. I don't like feeling dopey or out of it, which is why I'd rather suffer through a cold/sinus infection/etc than take cold medication b/c I don't like how it makes me feel. I take it for the first time tonight, so we'll see.
