Merlin (AKA Monkey) was born on April 2, 2009. I got him on September 8, 2009. I didn't think to ask the breeder if she had kitten pictures of him, so the earliest ones I have are from 5 months of age.

At 8 months playing with the metronome on my piano

9 months old, at the Las Vegas cat show New Year's Day 2010, with Iris

Gorgeous belly fur

My beautiful boy on his first birthday

He doesn't look a lot different in the pictures but he has grown.
4.6 pounds when I first got him.

7 pounds now

With Shareena who will be 3 years old in a few days. He's taller than she is but she still weighs more.

Where in the world was the cuteness warning?!

<< Seeing Merlin's pics nearly had me falling out of my chair!

Merlin really is a stunning cat. Am I correct that he's an abyssinian? The fur color on him is just amazing and I love his total "look." But, I'll be honest, Mr. Merlin does look like he has quite the, um, personality. Is he as much a trouble-maker at home as he appears to be in his photos?

Either way, happy first birthday, Merlin! May you have many, many, many more to come!

Yes he is an aby, and if you noticed his nickname you can guess his personality.

You'd have to get through me and the girls to find him. Although Miss Patchwillow might just hand him to you on a platter if her plays with her tail one too many times.

So, the piano!
You don't have it covered for protection.
Tell me your secret,
- or is it because he's just the cutest guy you'd ever want to watch that he can do whatever he wants?

I don't use a cover on the piano because it would be such a nuisance to take it off every time I want to play. I trim everybody's claws on a regular basis and have never had a problem with them scratching the piano. I do have to vacuum cat hairs off the strings once in a while.

Miss Patchwillow has claimed the piano lid as her special place. Goldy prefers to lay on the strings.
