He's just a very dark blue. edit: I do see purple now that you mention. Its super dark though but it lightens up where his fin meets body, and then blue fins!
My plan is to get a 10g and install DIY dividers. Two dividers so there will be room for three bettas! It will be quite a process due to cost and of course cycling the tank. I'll post images though when its all set up with 3 beautiful bettas, 3 different colors too! I'm learning alot from a betta forum
You should adopt a betta! Poor little guys in thier itty bitty cups...

So i just saw your posts on the other betta thread! Understand now why you dont have your boys anymore. Looking at your pics, your an experienced betta keeper. Love the live plants! I'm planning on adding plants to my 10g!
I'll be installing his filter and heater tomorrow!
Mind if I pm you on any setup or plant questions in the close future?

He's so gorgeous! I'll have to post pics of our 2 betta boys, Cervantes and Cheeseburger. Dana named Cheeseburger.

Rico is quite beautiful...

I love bettas. I've had a number in the past, but I don't have any presently. Instead, I have goldfish. I miss the bettas' beauty, but I do love my goldfish -- especially since they have such different personalities. But, bettas are wonderful fish and I hope to have some again at some point. But, until then, I'll just have to live vicariously through all of you here who are betta keepers.

Oh, by the way, I love Rico's coloration. To me, he looks almost like a deep indigo color. Very, very pretty .

I don't know about dividing a larger tank like that. It sounds like it would be difficult to control the temp and filter. Whatever you do, remember that they can jump!

And I'm so glad to see a betta in an aquarium with plenty of space instead of a bowl/cup.

yeah that would be fine hun

i was planning on dividing my 3ft tank when i had that

dividing isnt difficult, because the dividers have holes in and allows water through and so forth so its dead eas to keep them in the same tank, the most difficult part is having them in a planted tank

How did you manage even temperatures per division? Holes don't allow for perfect transfer.
yeah both sides same temp filter keeps water moving also so warm water was always moving which you could see in both sides of the tank if i was dividing up a 3 foot one like i had planned i would of had a heater at either side of the tank though and a out of the tank filtration system

my tank that i had 2 in was a 15litre tank so water stayed temp
