Hummmmm.... I have been to weight watchers and it was great... but they will not guarantee you anything... and 15lbs in a month especially they will not... They advise you to lose no more than 2lbs a week, or 8lbs a month... Slow and healthy weight loss is their way.
Keep in mind the more you have to lose, the faster you lose in the beginning, then things tend to slow down.
I lost about 30lbs in 4 months, but gained back with medication, quitting smoking, quitting WW, and unemployment.
Anyways, no, WW do not guarantee that loss... at least it didn't when I was with them.

Here are some vibes for your weight loss, and for your happiness regardless of :vi bes:

My parents have successfully lost and maintained weight loss through Weight Watchers and it does work - but if you want to keep it off, you have to stick with the maintenance plan. They learned a lot about food substitutions to eat things better (like putting salsa on a baked potato, ditching egg/croutons off salads, etc.) You could lose more weight than a typical week on the first week but 1-2 pounds a week is more typical after that initial 10 days.

Good luck!! And congrats on your decision.

That you do... You really learn about eating, and portion control... it is IMO the best plan out there.

I joined a couple of years ago and lost about 35 lbs. But did not do the maintenance and put it back on.

My husband and I are doing it ourselves now because we know the drill. In about 4 weeks, he has lost 16 lbs. He does a lot of walking at work and there is no food to snack on except for his lunch break.

I never weighed myself in the beginning (didn't want to get depressed). I have probably lost 10 or so. We both want to loose about 30-35 lbs.

It does work very well. I adore the 1 pt chocolate cakes from ww. A few tricks. We eat a lot of the Lean Cuisine, Smart ones and Healthy Choice dinners. I will always cook up some extra broccoli, cauliflower or brussels sprouts to go with since they are unlimited.

I also cook up the vegies in water that a couple boullion cubes have been added to....extra flavor.

If you are going to eat something "bad" do it in the am so you have all day to work it off.

They talk up the Splenda at the meetings. UGH!! I can't stand it. I do not deny myself my coffee in the morning and I use 2 teaspoons of sugar and 1/2 and 1/2. You have to have some enjoyment!! Besides, you get an extra 30 some pts for the week, so that is where mine go.

Good Luck! Keep us posted. You will loose the weight! Also, take the point calculator shopping with you.. Its an invaluable tool.

I have no experience, but I wanted to wish you well with the weight loss decision. My husband has to watch his weight, but he does it by counting calories. A friend ate the NutriSystem meals, then gained all the lost weight back. I hope Weight Watchers works for you.

I know people have lost weight using WW and the maintenance plan. But it seems that as soon as they go off maintenance, the weight comes back. That being said, what many people don't seem to realize is that it's not a diet; it's more like a way of life. Any way of eating healthy and making intelligent food substitutions really is a new way of life. And I think it's important to understand that.

One of my girlfriends uses WW a lot and makes a lot of their recipes; she loves to cook and this is a way that she can have fun cooking and not gain the weight she lost. She loves it. I wish you the best with WW...it's one of the best plans around. Good luck and have fun with it!

We eat a lot of fish. Tonight we are having Tilapia. We also love catfish.

I always keep a cooked chicken breast and boiled potatoes in the fridge. I am of Irish descent so I love them. We fry up the potatoes with a homefry seasoning, just make sure you weigh them to get the correct point value. It goes great with the fish.

I slice the chicken breast, warm a tortilla and make a roll up with chicken and salsa. When I use a certain tortilla, it is only about 3 pts. Also the ww Yogurt is only a 1. You can get some Poliners All Fruit and add some to the yogurt and boy is it good. Also, those dinners that have a fruit cobbler included for desert, I mix in with the yogurt also.

And I will add, don't deny yourself. We are going to our daughters on Easter and she is making a delicious meal. We will eat. You have to get away from it once in a while and it's no fun having guests who won't eat the beautiful meal you have made.

We'll just go back on the ww on Monday.

Weight Watchers has helped me out a lot but I am one of those who always seem to gain the weight back. I've learned you can never go back to the way you ate before and I have learned that the hard way repeatedly. I am a lifetime member since the 1980's but since then I have lost and gained weight. It is definitely a lifetime battle. I wish I had all the money I spent on WW meetings, I would have a nice nest egg right now

My advice to you would be go with the Point system rather than the Core. You will lose the weight but not quickly, as someone else said, 2 lbs a week is about right. Sometimes especially in the very beginning you may lose more but this is not a quick way to lose, the pounds will come off tho.

I wish you the best of luck.

I joined W.W. last year, January 2009, and continued with it on my own when I couldn't afford the monthly dues anymore. Altogether, I lost about 25 pounds, until my mom died in September and I got way off track. I rejoined again earlier this month when they offered a 1/2 off for the first month. I've been losing about 1.5 pounds a week, which is what W.W. recommends. I had a bad week this week because it was DH's birthday and I used all 35 of my extra points and then some, so I'm pretty sure I won't lose this week.

They really do teach you the right way to eat, if you pay attention to the material they give you and the meetings. You don't have to buy their food either. The stuff they sell at their meetings is very expensive, IMO.

One hint that helped me a lot is to get some of the sugar free jello and when you need a snack or something sweet, its 0 points. I have it in the evening with a little fat free cool whip.

Good luck! If you haven't been on a diet lately you will probably lose quite a bit the first week. The first week I was on it last time I lost 7 pounds the first week. But it doesn't keep coming off that way.

I really like the cookbooks. I did the online program for a month, but decided I liked Sparkpeople.com better, and it's free. I have thought about the actual group meetings, but I just don't want to pay that much, on top of my YMCA membership. I love, love, love the cookbooks though. Their recipes are yummy.

Ah! I knew I had seen a Weight Watchers' thread!

I joined last Friday. I had my two-year breast cancer survival anniversary on Thursday the 16th, and decided I wanted to do something special for myself, so I went to a meeting and joined on the 17th!

The meeting was great, and I'm not normally a "meeting" type of person. The leader is very enthusiastic and a cheerleader, and that might wear a little thin (no pun intended) after awhile, but so far I'm really enjoying her enthusiasm.

I love the plan, as I love to cook, and there are some fantastic recipes. For some reason, I'm really enjoying figuring out the points and taking the time to measure and weigh. And writing everything down is helping me too.

I've been a runner for over 30 years, and I used to simply rely on that. I hadn't had that much of a problem with my weight, since I always burned off whatever I ate, but getting older has changed my metabolism. I had to do something, because I have about 25 extra pounds on me that I don't like, and that should come off. And had to change the way I look at food, and what kind of stuff I put in my mouth, so it's a real change in my way of life, actually.....as Winchester said, learning to make food substitutions is key.

And I've got more energy! I thought I knew about nutrition, but I'm learning so much more about eating in a more balanced way, and I feel really healthy!

I re-joined last Thursday, I love the program, and the meetings! Both times I"ve done the progrsam before I lost 25lbs in about 3mo.... but then I think I can do it on my own.... stop going to mettings and gaining it back (plus some, uhg.... with quitting smoking and having a baby)

So, I've been looking and I don't see any new year resolution weight loss threads. I started WW again on Monday Jan 10th, and I'm doing great. I LOVE that now they've made fruits zero points!!!

DH and I started this past Saturday. He is down seven lbs and I don't know about me, cause I never weigh myself. But my rings are spinning. We both want to loose about 30 lbs.

I joined a few years back and dropped 35 lbs. so I still have all the charts and stuff.

I found a great site for recipies its skinnytaste.com. All kinds recipies with point values. The minestrone soup is fantastic.

I really love the ww diet. You don't get bored, cause you are eating real food and not a plate of egg whites for breakfast!!!

Good luck to us!!

I tried WW but I had a lot better luck with Sparkpeople.com-- and sparkpeople is free! I did WW for about 6 months. I am going to have to lose all of this baby weight quickly after it's born and I will go back to sparkpeople. We used to have a group on sparkpeople from the cat site, but it kind of went by the wayside....
