For those who have been following my problems, my momma cat is also in heat right now. Shes driving me absolutly crazy. With all the howling and meowing she does....is there ANYTHING I can do to shut her up?? That sounds so mean but im just at my wits end. Im hoping she may be at the end of her cycle. Shes scheduled to be spayed on Friday but im afraid that with her being in heat and her "milk" glands being so swollen they wont do it yet

I'm not sure if there's really anything you can do other than grin and bare it. Try giving her lots of love, it helped with my girl. The vet can spay her while she is in heat but they usually charge a little more. As for her nipples, well there's not anything to do for that. Her milk just has to dry up and stop produceing. You might call your vet tomorrow and see if they could get her in sooner.

They can spay a nursing mom cat but like to wait until the milk dries up mostly because they do not want to move her from the kittens but there is a risk of cutting into the mammary tissue causing milk to enter the incision area and increase the risk of infection.

There isnt much you can do unless you and your vet agree on the risks of spaying her now being worth it

Thanks guys
The support helps!

Ill give the clinic a call tomorrow...its not my actual vet i was taking her to get spayed at (they want over 300 bucks!) but a city program with low cost spays and neuters.

They dont want to spay while in heat. More difficult and more dangerous. So this is a very good reason to wait one week with this spaying.
