I grew a pot of oat grass for my two boys. At least one of them ate some today. He threw up on the livingroom carpet. Is this normal?

Very normal. Some cats will eat cat grass to help them get up a hairball, or will eat too much and throw up some. It does help with their digestion.

However, if the cat keeps on throwing up the cat grass in large amounts, I would try a different type of cat grass seed, like rye grass or barley grass.

Whoever threw up hadn't eaten much. He had swallowed one long, coarse blade and a few bits. (It's possible he gagged a little on the long blade). I'll try a finer bladed rye next time.

I'm not sold on cat grass. Sasha jumped out of his litterbox this morning with a turd hanging by a blade of grass in tow. It was a sight!

When I put out a new pot of cat grass Red will just pig out and then puke. So for the first few days I will give it to him briefly, let him eat a little and then put it out of reach. Once the newness wears off he will eat more reasonable amounts without puking.

I have left the oat grass for them to do with what they will. The new grass won't be ready till ? The oat grass took 8 days from planting to serving.

grass is good for cats.

Here are benefits of grass for cats:

*It is good for cat to relieve stomach ache.
*Cats also need grass to relieve inflammation on their throats.
*Grass helps cats to cough up furl balls.

I have 2 different pots that I rotate around. Each one lasts 2-3 weeks. So when I see it is getting short I start a new pot. I keep the new pot away from the cats until the grass is about 2 inches long - usually about 10 days.
