I add 3 1000mg capsules of salmon oil to 13oz of canned food. This amount is fed to two cats over 3 days. I pierce the capsules and squeeze out as much as possible, but doubt I really getting all 1000mg.

One of my cats suffers from constipation and wonder if I should increase the oil.

Mazy gets 250 mg twice a week. My vet has told me that omega fish oils will not aid in constipation issues.

I have a kitty that has constipation problems. I switched her to an all grain free canned diet, (based on advice learned here) and she is doing much better. One flavor only works best for Jennie, I tried varying the grain free flavors on a regular rotation and the trouble came back, so she's back on only Wellness grain free canned chicken, (with no more than twice a week one of the other grain free flavors.)

My cats won't touch grain free canned but will eat it dry. They will eat Wellness grain free dry, I haven't tried the canned yet. They will sniff out the Evo grain-free and avoid, avoid, avoid!

Wellness is just so darned expensive...

And if never fails, every time, I put up a constipation post, my kitty does her business! Maybe I should do a constipation post daily.

Hee hee. Hey if it works!

Constipation is so worrisome. After dealing with Ootay's (
5/09) megacolon for so many years, I worry a lot about Jennie's constipation issues. She's only 4!

But yes, if they won't eat something, well there is just no getting around that. Thankfully Jennie is not Finicky.

Wellness in the 13oz can runs about 90 cents for 5.5 oz portion or = to most decent with grain premiums.... If you do not mind by products and your cat will eat them without issue, try looking at the grocery stores some grain free bargins are avail.... I pay 1.09 to 1.33 for a 22oz can....

As for oil add maybe a teaspoon a day of olive oil or butter to aid constipation

Huh, weird. My local pet store carries the Wellness 5.5oz cans for $1.35 each. Compare to Evo at 1.75 for 13oz.

Yep, gave them some olive oil this morning and she was relieved shortly thereafter. Is it safe to feed them OO more than once or twice weekly?
