I thought this might be interesting to consider and discuss on this site.
Here is an ad I came across on a website:

There is a woman on here that is looking for a calico kitten and had contacted me on two kittens that I had for sale. Both for $150....for various reasons. They are sisters and I wanted them to be sold together. She continued to call me and email me bugging for just the one kitten for $50. When I said no, the lowest I would go is $125 she then continued to harrass with phone calls and emails, each time upping her asking price $25 until she stopped at $100. When I again said "no" (because I had them sold on Monday to a family and because I wanted them to go together) she took the liberity to swear at me and be rude because I wouldn't bend for her. She then began to explain that Im holding the kitten for "welfare bums" who are going to screw me for the money and being very rude towards low income families.

All in all, this woman DOES NOT deserve a kitten free-$1000. The ignorance that came out of her mouth because she didn't get her way was ridiculous and very childish.

So, my question - does the woman looking for an inexpensive cat deserve one? and is this a reasonable ad? The ad went on to include the email address of the offending woman, was that going too far? Two times Two very angry people.

Its the gimme generation. For some reason we have a generation of young people 18-30 that seem to think that they can have anything they want. I think the one that said no was right and the one stalking and harassing needs to be reported to the police.

i have to agree there mind! i know i fall into that age range but i find myself alot different to others, for example i know someone who has cats but wanted them for either free or extremely cheap

Having worked in a shelter, people have that gimme attitude at all ages.

We had seniors come in looking for kittens to keep them company with no plans to take care of them when they passed away before the cat (likely given their age) and wanting a discount because they were seniors and could not afford the adoption fee.

We had lawyers, business people etc try to talk us down on price just because its what they do, they could easily afford the adoption fee.

We had the so called gimme generation come in and say they could not afford the fee too.

But for every one of those people, there were others who paid without an issue, and others who gave a donation on top.

I don't buy that its a certain generation when it comes to pets, like aj mentioned, I fall into that age group and do know people who can be cheap, but every person I know my age would do anything for their pets.

Regardless of age, I do not think this woman deserves a kitten, if she can't afford the adoption fee but I would also be interested to hear what it included, if the kittens had no health care, not spayed etc, I would also be wary that it was a BYB charging that kind of cost for a kitten - without knowing some facts, its hard to pass judgement.

However, the cursing, there is no need for - I assume its craigslist

Haggling over kitten prices is extremely rude in my opinion. If she didn't agree with the price there are plenty of other kittens around.

I do think that is going too far, that info could be shared via pm or emails not listed publicly.

That person probably would have been lax in vet visits also if they were so concerned about the price of the kitten.

I also agree that the email should not be public.
