Watching Molly and her owlets is addicting.

Edit...
Another owlet, Wesley, just hatched.

I have an older computer...
this link take less memory.

If people like this sort of thing there's some great ones in the UK, the Derby Cathedral Peregrines are my favourites:

They've laid two eggs so far this year.

Also,

I think EJ the osprey is one of the most famous birds in the UK!

And,

The female osprey at Loch of the Lowes has been breeding there for 20 years which is amazing.

Does anyone else here think that owls remind them of cats? Or am I the only one? I think Newt looks like a barn owl due to her little white heart shaped face and Ripley reminds me of an eagle owl with her huge, amber eyes!
No you're not alone! Molly's actions and behaviors very much remind me of cats, I had no idea cats and owls were so similar!

thanks for adding the links!

I had it on all morning while I was working in lab waiting for the one egg to hatch...I was luckily within sight and saw the whole thing (so did my one lab mate who I excitedly called over).

I cant wait until "my" peregrine falcons come back to the clinical sciences building. Its so neat to follow the offspring from egg to fledge.

It's early here...
The night camera is still on.
Molly and owlets are enjoying a breakfast of fresh rabbit provided by their father, McGee.
Did you know that owls mate for life?

I don't think one of the babies is doing very well
It's the one in the far back corne. It's moving it's wings occasionally, but not going anywhere and it doesn't lift up it's head. And the more active baby had it's back turned to the camera and it looked like it was pecking at the other one

And the Mom is just sitting there ignoring her chicks

I got up really early to check on Molly. It's still dark.
Molly might have all the owlets tucked safely under her now.
One more egg to go.

I hope that McGee brought her plenty of food last night.

I witnessed a rat and a rabbit before I went to bed!

She save the rat for her pantry, which McGee brought first, but tore into the rabbit, and fed herself and the owlets with it. They all appeared to enjoy it!

Can't see any of the babies now. She's laying on them.

EDIT: There was some thumping.. Now she's making a horrid noise!!

EDIT EDIT: Actually the 2 parents were laying on top of one another. It was the male that was making the noise. He finally went off and left the mom

After watching Molly and her family for the last few days, I will never take birds for granted again.
She has changed a lot of us for the better.

You can tell there is an impending visit as Molly will start calling to him before he comes in. Then there is much screeching as he comes in, and bonds with her (stepping on her back) and/or leaving food.

I just can't get enough of watching it!

Just got back from watching Molly...
apparently she showed McGee the owlets for the first time last night.
The talk in chat is that the 5th egg might hatch today.

I am hooked on Molly watch too.

She is pecking at the last egg!!! I think she is trying to help it out of the shell!!!

EDIT:

Ugh! I watched her for a few minutes and then came to post the above, and when I went back she was sitting on the babies again.
