Nice Story, thanks for the link!

I know I'm anthropomorphizing, but doesn't Wesley look so little and pitiful peeking out at night...."where is everybody, it's so hard being the youngest all the time"

well...you know I was just looking at the lay/hatch dates. The other owlets hatched 15 days after being laid, Wesley took 16 days!

Wesley finally came out of the box.

This morning, about 5:10AM, pacific time, a very large Wesley casually stepped out of the box, stood on the perch, looked around, flapped gorgeous wings....then went back in. It was almost daylight.

The three other owlets who had been doing their fly-abouts, immediately flew over to greet Wesley.

This is a major milestone for the owlets, Molly, McGee & Carlos.
Wesley

Edit...
here is a short video of Wesley's first steps out of the owlbox.

It seemed the owlet watch was over for the night, when suddenly, without warning, Wesley came to the owlbox door and gingerly stepped out.

Wesley surprised everyone.

This link doesn't take me to that video, and I am dying to see it as I missed the actual event!

In the mean time here is a nice shot I got this moring. Last night I watched the full moon rise (blood red) here in the East.

This morning I am watching it set in the West!

It looks like that video was removed by the user...
I wish people would stop doing that.

At least we have the picture that you posted....
thanks.

The owlets are all safely back in their box for the day....

Yeah, it seems that Wesley has moved out now too. I guess it took Austin coming back to give her some encouragement.

Carlos will be turning off the camera on Monday

That picture of Austin and Wesley is so precious. They look for all the world as if they are actually emotionally attached. Perhaps they are, as owlets, and don't forget about each other until they've been out of the nest for a while. After all, owls are intelligent critters!

I have the same feelings but now they are free at last. Hope they enjoy a happy, full life.
