Bobber who is 10.5 years as I posted in the Health thread does not have good news from her last xray.
Her cancer has progressed to the liner/membrane over her lungs.
Right now she is eating well and still appears healthy.
We know that will be changing and I would like to start supplementing her dry food (Taste of the Wild) with a nutrient/calorie dense wet food.
I'm looking for suggestions as I'm stopping at a store tomorrow that carries alot of higher quality dry and wet food.

Thanks!

Nutrient dense EASY ... Calorie dense is a bit harder in a wet food.... are you wanting 200-230 calories per 5.5 or higher?

I know RC Green Pea and Duck is pretty calorie dense, its one of the foods listed on the pet obesity lists, the Wellness canned are pretty high too IIRC

http://www.petobesityprevention.com/...ouch_Foods.pdf
That has a list of the calories with the can/pouch sizes listed

If you start with a list of the calorie dense / available in your area foods, it may help narrow down your list

I'm quite sure what I want at this stage-I just want to keep her weight up as her disease progresses. She's not fussy about food to begin with.

IMHO and thats all it is ... Find whatever foods he likes and that agrees with him... he will be more likely to eat enough.. also ask the vet about appetite stimulants

I tend to agree with this. I don't want to sound callous, but the fact is, the long-term effects any particular food has on the cat's health aren't really a factor that need to be considered any more. Cats that are already getting ready for the trip to Rainbow Bridge anyway might as well eat whatever they want.

Bobbers a female and hopefully several months (or more?) from the RB. I bought a couple cans of Evo and one of Felidae. At this pont I only want to give her 2-3 oz/day in addition to her dry (TOTH) food.

What about the science diet AD food? It has extra calories and is often given to sick cats who need lots of calories quick.

I agree with this also. At the end with Speedboat, we gave him anything he would eat. If I had know then what was happening, I would have done it sooner. My big regret is that I didn't once ever feed him all he wanted of anything he really liked. He ate prescription food for urinary most of his life.

And make sure you give her lots of treats, and anything she loves - there's no harm in spoiling her rotten for her last few months

They'll eat more of anything they like best. My Bob Marley (lung cancer) has decided he loves dry Purina Cat Chow the best so that's what I give him at least once a day. His choice of wet is Authority Turkey and Giblets.
Gail. These are the hard times.

The last few months Raven
was with us he got to eat whatever he wanted. Before he started declining he ate his regular food (Nutro dry and Fancy Feast wet).

Nabu, my oldster, is picky and goes through phases where what you've been feeding him becomes "gross". So I tend to go back and forth between Purina canned foods (Friskies, Pro Plan, Fancy Feast). He does like Cat Chow in the blue bag, so I will use that as a fall back if he stops eating the dry food we are feeding (his current dry food is easier on his tummy than CC). When he stopped eating last year we used Fancy Feast Appetizers in conjunction with what his vet was doing medically to get him eating again. Skipjack Tuna flavor was a lifesaver. At that time Cat Chow really helped put the weight back on him.

I'm sorry to hear about your kitty's diagnosis. I hope she has a long time left with you.
