Just wanted to request some adoption vibes for my sweet and snuggly foster kitty, Danny Boy. Because he's tested positive for FIV, it's going to be quite a challenge to find him a home. Unfortunately, FIV is still an often misunderstood disease and cats that test positive are frequently euthanized or overlooked for adoption. Danny is listed on Petfinder through the rescue that assists with my feral colony and I've posted him on every FIV/special needs website I can find. He's on the waiting list at a local no-kill shelter that takes in FIV/FeLV+ cats, but I'm determined to find him a real home. Since FIV positive and negative cats can safely live together, I've been allowing Danny some contact with my crew to give him time out of the spare room. He loves it!

Danny pic's are here: http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...ight=danny+boy

Please send vibes that someone is willing to look past the FIV and give this sweet, wonderful boy a home. Thanks!

Sending vibes that Danny Boy's future loving human makes an unbreakable connection with him this weekend.

Best of luck to Danny Boy.

I know cats with FIV are not a danger to other cats in a harmonious home, but the danger is actually to the FIV+ cat, so the other cats of the home MUST be kept inside. You probably already know that but thought I'd mention it.

Keep us posted.
into your new home Danny Boy!

No worries. My cats are healthy, indoor-only and I've fostered FIV+ cats in the past. I also just wrote an article for the rescue's newsletter about FIV hoping to educate others about the disease and encouraging them to adopt.

Thanks for the vibes.

Thanks so much for the vibes.

Chances are Danny will live a long, healthy life. Most FIV+ cats do with good care.

The reality is there are no guarantees with any cat. I have an 17-year-old female with no health issues and 6-year-old male with heart disease. Years ago, I lost my first male cat to kidney failure before his 5th birthday.

Losing a cat is always hard, especially if he or she is young, but the important thing is treasuring whatever time we do have with them.

I can't agree enough with this, I took home a cat who was in very rough shape when I got him - I did not expect him to live long after taking him home and he lived with us for almost 6 years.

On the other hand, a favourite of mine at the shelter, a sweet 9 month old torti, was pts for cancer just a few months after adoption, her adopters were heartbroken but it happens

I am sending for Danny Boy and all the kitties who are finding it difficult to get furever homes.

My heart goes out to all of them and the special people who give so much of their hearts to them.
