Thanks from me and Chevy for the well wishes!Originally Posted by darlili
I'm sure you're going to get a lot of formulas for help with this - for me, for odor, I've had great luck with Zero Odor - you can get it at bed bath & beyond if there's one near you.
Good luck at the vet - let's hope you caught whatever it is early and Chevy will be feeling fine and back in the litter box very soon.
I just got some Nature's Miracle, going to try that.Originally Posted by strange_wings
You could try soaking it by hand and seeing if that would help.
If it's just foam cushions and no batting, I would unzip and remove the upholstery covers (I hope you can). Soak those down for a little while, then put them in the washer wish detergent and more enzyme cleaner.
Take the cushions outside or to a bathtub and thoroughly soak them. If you have nice enough weather then take them outside to dry in the sun. If not, let them soak a while then attempt to squeeze (or press) out as much excess of the fluid as possible and let them dry. You make have to repeat soaking them if the smell isn't completely out.
And if it's on a non detachable part of the loveseat, your left with just soaking it down.

Okay, this is what I would do if I didn't have any commercial stuff ...
first I'd dump some white vinegar on the area (to neutralize the urine acid), followed by alcohol (to sanitize and remove the odor) - now, .... by alcohol ... I don't mean the kind you drink - I'm sure you could find something better to do with that stuff.
I use this combination on my carpets from any fur balls that were pitched, - or anything else like that. I don't rub the spots, I dab the spots so the carpet doesn't pill. The white vinegar neutralizes, and the alcohol picks up the stain as well as sanitizes. Vinegar first - then dab - then alcohol and dab dab dab to draw out the fluid and to clean.
I've never had to do a sofa cushion or anything that thick - maybe you could wet it with the vinegar, then take a towel and press the fluid out, then do the same with the alcohol ???
Remember - this is just an idea of what I would do - I'm sure you'd want to make sure that the white vinegar or the alcohol wouldn't stain the material and take any other precaution that I haven't thought of to post here.
Remember, you get what you pay for, and this advice is freeeeee.
