Orson, my new adoptee

Thread Starter
Okay, so he was called that by the shelter and I'm looking for a new name for him. I like food names and since my other cat is named Tofu, I'd like to stick to the trend. If any of you have name suggestions, please share.

I adopted him two days ago from my local SPCA and so he is still in quarantine in my bathroom. He was abandoned and found living under a shed. Despite all that, he is super friendly and best of all, loves cuddles and is a lap kitty (even though he is too big to comfortably fit on laps!). Hard to believe anyone could abandon a friendly guy like him.

He is a BIG kitty and has a very cobby body and a rounded stubby tail (think British Shorthair style). Very docile and easygoing, didn't even flinch when he saw my dog. He was sleeping all relaxed when I started blowdrying my hair half a meter away from him and all he did was look up for a few seconds, and then went back to sleep all sprawled out. He drops and rolls on his back as soon as he thinks attention is coming his way. We are absolutely in love with him already!

Enough with the rambling. Onto the pictures.

He is beautiful
No idea on the names

The name Panko popped into my head. Japanese bread crumbs. They are white. Goes with Tofu.

He is just gorgeous I mean wow!!! I'd like to kick the person who abandoned him right in the ........... Grrrrrr!!

The sweetness just oozes out of him. It's on his face.

What a gorgeous kitty! I submit Tempeh (since he's Tofu's brother ) and Nori (for the green eyes) to the potential name list.

Ooo! Love those choices!!! Nori is the seaweed used in sushi, right? I already know what Tempeh is!

How about "Wonder," as in Wonder White Bread?

It IS amazing the cats that are found as strays. I'm not sure most of them are abandoned. I think many manage to escape, and the owners don't look for them hard enough, and being formerly indoor cats, they just don't find their way home.

In my mind, not looking hard enough is abandoning. At our shelter we keep lost and found records and search through the lost cat records to see if incomings match, they rarely do

Oh....my...... Absolutely positively utterly gorgeous!!!

If he goes missing, I don't know who stole him.

Nat, I immediately thought about what your reaction would be when you saw this beauty. I lost my breath when I saw him, and was waiting to "see" you loose yours!

Shiroi is white. Shiro is also 'castle'.

Now my suggestions:

Yuki is snow and can be used for boys and girls.
Mochi is rice cake and is often white.
Kori is ice.

Good luck with the name! He is gorgeous. Looks very soft and pettable too. He camoflages well in your sink.

He's gorgeous! So nice that he's cuddly too.
I like Panko as a name for him too.
He is stunning. I was actually thinking Tofu would be a good name for him, but he looks like a Miso to me (even though Miso isn't white). Tofu is a cutie as well.
He is beautiful! Such a pristine white coat and sweet face. I want to snuggle him.

Thanks, guys!! I really appreciate all your responses and suggestions. I liked all the names and submitted the list to my boyfriend to pick. Well, he LOVES mochi ice cream, so he chose the name Mochi (suggested by Lyrajean -- thanks!). I went back and forth a few times because I like so many of the names, but we finally settled. Mochi it is.

A few more pics from today:

Mochi is one of the prettiest white cats I've ever seen! Such expressive eyes. I'll bet he feels like a white sheepskin, too, with very dense fur.
He is absolutly stunning
