Tomorrow I have my surgery and biopsy! I had my pre-admission appointment yesterday.

So not looking forward to this!

Because I don't have anyone to stay overnight to look after me, they are admitting me overnight
I told them that I don't need anyone to stay with me: That I would take to my bed and watch TV and keep the phone next to me, but they are worried that I might fall down. Heck, they aren't even giving me general anesthetic. I'm having "conscious sedation", meaning they give me drugs to make me loopy and forget and I'll apparently be awake the whole time, but not feeling any pain.

Ugh! I so do not want to stay the night in the hospital!

I plan on being home by 7am Saturday so that I can give Chynna her medication. If she doesn't get it around that time the poor girl throws up as a result of her high blood pressure.

I'm home!!

Everything went well. I had a spinal and some light sedation (which didn't kick in until 3 hours after the procedure!
)

They had a hard time with the spinal. He was poking around and around, and I was feeling some really weird sensations that I can't even describe. He finally had to use an ultra sound. Then a couple more pokes and more fishing around. Finally I jumped and yelle "OHHHH!" to which he replied "It's in!"
It felt like someone jabbed me in the butt.

The girl in the recovery area was someone I used to work with at my old job. She left some years back to take the ICU course and is now working at day surgery area of the Women's Hospital.

The staff were really great. I had a room to myself: Not a private one, but the person who was there had been discharged before I arrived, so they did their best to keep it empty. There are some perks to being a nurse

I managed to sleep 1 hour after dinner, and then another hour from midnight to 1 am. And that's it! By 7am I was going stir crazy and was so tired that I was starting to feel sick. So I asked the nurse if she could call the Resident and get me a discharge order otherwise I was going to sign myself out "Against Medical Advice." She managed to get me an order.

Boy were my kitties happy to see me! Chynna especially. She was crying and crying on the desk begging me to pick her up. She's had her cuddles and her pills and breakfast. Now she's at my knee on the desk shelf wanting more cuddles.

Abby hasn't had cuddles yet. Just a head scritch. She doesn't like to be picked up. But once I take my pills and have something to eat I'm heading to bed and she will come for her cuddles then.

Thanks for all of the well wishes!

Oh..speaking of well wishes. I got home and my answering machine was flashing. It was my Unit Manager. She called yesterday at 4:30 pm to let me know that she was wishing me well and that she was thinking of me.

I have the greatest job!!!

So glad it went well and is all over now. It must feel great to not have that hanging over you anymore.

Unfortunately, it's still hanging over me. I have to wait for the biopsy results, which will take about 6 weeks to get back.

Glad things went well for you. Hoping the biopsy results are good, too.
