I finally got my hands on some canned pumpkin for the loose stool issue resulting from antibiotics for Butters. I could find NONE, but someone I know actually had some already, so they brought it into work for me.
Whole Foods 100% Pure no less! Fancy!

How much should I be giving him? And just straight or should I attempt to mix it with his wet food? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I just realized once I actually had it that I had no idea how to administer it!

Do you know how to do a search on the site?

You can give it plain but most mix it with wet food

Depending on the size of your cat, start out with something between a teaspoon and a tablespoon. You'll just have to try different ways to see how your cat will take it. I tried it with Merlin and found that he wouldn't touch it. I put some next to his wet food in the dish and he totally ignored it. So I tried mixing it in and he somehow managed to eat all the wet food and leave a pile of pumpkin in the middle of the dish.

I have never used canned pumpkin, but I had always been under the assumption it is used for constipation, not LOOSE bowels???

Does anyone happen to know where I can find some canned pumpkin this time of year? None of my local stores seem to have any. My boy had to have an enema a couple of weeks ago and I'm trying to keep things moving! Thanks!!

Bama, same here, haven't been able to find canned pumpkin in a month. I'm heading out to the market now to see if it's been re-stocked. Meanwhile, I'm using sweet potato baby food and I've been told it's just as useful as pumpkin.

Canned pumpkin is available year round here but it is stocked in the canned fruit and vegetable section of the store. The canned pumpkin pie filling is found in the baking section. Try looking in the canned fruit and vegetable section.
