manual razor

Archie has a medium length coat.. and occasionally soft stools, better than they used to be. Sometimes he gets 'crusties'. I don't have electric clippers to give him a sanitary shave.

Can I use a safety razor -you know like a good quality man's or woman's Gillette and some baby shampoo to lather up to clean him?

Or am I just asking for trouble ... and razor burn?

PS - tried little cuticle scissors but I was afraid I would cut his skin.

I wouldnt do that since a cat's skin is so thin and a simple nick could cause a lot of bleeding. You can use some blunt scissors to give him a cut, that would work.

Little mini-clippers are not very expensive - much less than a trip to the vet. You will want one with a "10 blade".

Thank you! I don't mind making an investment to keep his bum clean and trimmed up!
