Princess Skye
June 2007-March 24, 2010

She grew up only knowing the luxury of being an indoor kitty. When I had to move from Arizona to California my grandparents told me she had to stay outdoors. Everyone is highly allergic to cats so she made the transition to being a free kitty. She was so cautious when she got here, but as she got more comfortable in her surroundings, she started to explore a bit more. Mostly the lady next door because she would feed her chicken. She has always had an extreme distaste for dogs. The people behind us as well as next to us have dogs, so I assumed she would avoid those houses. Today around noon Skye must have been feeling brave and went into the neighbors yard. They have a wolf hybrid dog who doesn't make any noise. He must have snuck up on her. By the time we realized what happened it was too late to help her.
She was only 2 years old and my Princess thru and thru. We had unconditional love, and so many years left to share together.

OMG I am so sorry for you. Your story is tragic and I don't even know what to say other than I'm grieving with you at my loss and for you for your loss...I have learned over the past few days that this place is a community and although nothing will take the place of your love and nothing will stop your pain, knowing you have a community of those with common grief allows you to feel slightly less alone.

That was one good looking cat.
You lost a loved one and your future together.
Your loved one lost you, she lost everything.
I'm really and truly sorry - I sympathize with you a lot.
Hang in there.

Thanks for the words of kindness. It's been super hard. I swear last night I heard her meow, it was faint but I'm sure it was her. This is probably one of the hardest events I've had to experience in my life up to this point.

What a tragic way to lose your little girl. I am so so sorry. I believe our cats can visit us again, maybe in our dreams or other ways. Since you heard her meow, maybe she has already visited you. I pray that you will find peace in your heart. May your memories bring you comfort in the days ahead.

I read this post when I first joined and I had wanted to say something then, but I was too shy so I didn't, and now that I have been lead to it again I think I simply must express my condolences to you dear. It's hard when this happens to your precious pet. When I was a really small girl my dads best friend lost his cat to a neighbors dog. I remember that was the first time I had ever seen a man cry, and I know it took him a while to get over it. Luckily his cats sister was there to give him supportive head bumps and purrs and snuggles. I hope that you're healing....

Words cannot express how very sorry I am. I can't even imagine how you must feel even now. I lost my sweet boy Oscar in December of 08 to illness and he was 15 at the time and it took me a long time before I could even look at his picture without crying.
