So I've been struggling to get my boy to eat canned food. He gets dry food as well, and he's a dry food junkie. I've tried a bunch of different brands and flavors from a holistic pet store and at best he would take a couple nibbles of wet food before turning his nose up at it.

That was the story until I gave him some Nature's Variety Instinct Rabbit Formula. Licked the plate clean and then begs for more. I'm thrilled, but of course its like the most expensive can at the pet store. I'm looking in to ordering online to save money. Its just weird that he would like such an oddball flavor though. It's the only canned food with rabbit in it that I have found.

So my first question is do any of you know of any other quality canned foods with rabbit in them (preferably without chicken due to a sensitivity)? I don't want to get him stuck on this brand if I can avoid it in case they change the formula or discontinue it.

Second, what do you think of the ingredients? I read the label and it seemed decent, but I'm still learning... A few months ago I didn't know any better about ingredients.

Nature's Variety Instinct Rabbit Formula:
Rabbit, Pork Liver, Water, Flaxseed, Tricalcium Phosphate, Peas, Carrots, Calcium Carbonate, Lecithin, Vitamins (Choline Chloride, L-Ascorbyl-2-Polyphosphate, Vitamin E Supplement, Niacin Supplement, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Vitamin A Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate, Biotin, Riboflavin Supplement, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Folic Acid), Dried Kelp, Salt, Potassium Chloride, Taurine, Minerals (Zinc Proteinate, Iron Proteinate, Manganese Proteinate, Copper Proteinate, Sodium Selenite, Ethylenediamine Dihydriodide), Artichokes, Cranberries, Pumpkin, Tomato, Blueberries, Broccoli, Cabbage, Kale, Parsley.

I have heard that cats go crazy for rabbit as a protein source. Don't know of any other wet with rabbit in it. I think... not sure... the only other option would be raw.

Did you try venison? Just thinking out loud here in case he gets tired of rabbit.

Evo has a rabbit ... Natures recipe had a rabbit ( unsure if current)... Wellness 95% has a rabbit

Venison is light years away from rabbit ... closest to rabbit is actually pork and fish like cod

Yep, tried venison, duck, turkey, all kinds of fish (I'm not really crazy about fish though, neither is he), chicken (chicken is off limits now, he has a sensitivity to it).

Remaining to be tried is lamb and beef..... Thanks for the info Sharky, I'll look into those brands and see if I can find another rabbit he likes.

Thanks for the enlightenment. I had never seen rabbit canned cat food except for the Instinct.

Congrats, the two of you must be very happy and satisfied!

While reading this post I thought to myself, how come they don't come out with mice as the form of protein?

Either way, I have yet to see the rabbit wet food, but thanks for the post will be researching myself!

My guess is no Major farm is willing to do mice... you can get clean mice online for raw feeding

Well, isn't that grand! I've noticed that it's all or nothing with kitty cats. Either cats are stubborn, incredibly picky eaters, or they steal the pork chop off your plate. Needless to say, my cat only eats dry food. I've even tried giving her treats (human and cat), but she won't eat them.

She's a VERY healthy cat, but alas, a weird one. Zippy won't touch anything that isn't Meow Mix or Science Diet. But judging by the ingredients of the cat food you purchased, I'd say you're definitely heading in the right track. Of course, if your cat appears to be deficient in one or more vitamins (which doesn't appear to be likely), you can visit this Pet Pharmacy. They're called Center Pet and they have a neat inventory of mild vitamins that I give to my babies. ^-^
