We get a box of produce every couple of weeks from a local farm coop. This last box had Broccolini and I haven't found a recipe that was appealing to me. It is supposed to be a variant of broccoli and a Chinese broccoli.

Has anyone found an interesting way to serve this?

I've never had broccolini, but my best guess would be in a stirfry.

I'm a big lover of greens - Swiss Chard, Spinach, Beet Greens, Turnip Greens - you name it.

Broccolini is often boiled (or steamed) for about 5 minutes until stem are tender, then drained and quickly sauteed with olive oil and garlic. You could also add bacon or procuitto. It's a lovely side dish.

You know what I would do with a broccolini? Roast it. Cauliflower is DIVINE roasted ... It might be worth a try, though I've never had broccolini. Throw in some garlic cloves, onions, whatever other roasting veggies you like, drizzle on the olive or canola oil and lots of salt and pepper, pop the whole thing in the oven for at least 45 minutes at a high/roasting temperature, and there you go.

That is the only way I have had broccolini too, or sauteed with olive oil, pepper and lemon

I love toasted sesame oil. If you have any, saute your broccolini, then dollop a quick splash of the sesame oil over it. Stir to combine and serve. If you want, you could sprinkle with some toasted slivered almonds or toasted sesame seeds, too.

Broccolini is lovely. Think of it as baby broccoli, and do with it pretty much anything you'd do with broccoli, particularly the more delicate things. The mention of sesame oil -- good idea! -- makes me think also of smoked olive oil, whose acquaintance I made a few months ago. That would be lovely drizzled on the steamed broccolini.

Smoked olive oil?? Where did you find smoked olive oil? I'd love to try that. I love smoked anything. Have you ever used smoked paprika? I get mine from Penzeys and it gives everything just a little bit of a kick. I have smoked salt, too, from The Spice House (I think that's where I got it) in Chicago and I love that, too. I've never heard of smoked olive oil and I'm very interested. Thanks!

Ohmigosh. This all sounds so good. I love vegetables and fixing them different ways.

Makes me want to join a food coop. Friends of mine did it a couple of years ago and shared some of their stuff with me. I think I'll check online and see what's available around NYC.

Broccolini sounds lovely!

Well, actually a friend found it, at a local shop, whose name escapes me at the moment. They specialize in all things olive. I was totally unaware of smoked olive oil prior to that meeting, and went looking for recipes and ideas, and found this site, which looks quite lovely. The first thing I did was the roasted asparagus.
Lots of lovely ideas there.

I make it exactly how Yosimite recommends. I boil it for a very short period of time, then saute it in olive oil with a bit of salt, pepper, and lemon. You can also broil it, which is quite tasty. Just sprinkle it with olive oil and add whichever seasonings you would like.

Thanks so much for the link....I will be the proud owner of a bottle of SANTA FE Chili Smoked Olive Oil in the very near future. Well, as soon as it gets here. I'm always intrigued by things like this and especially hot and spicy. I'm sure it will be delicious and I cannot wait to get it. Thank you.

Wish there was a Smoked Olive around here.

I will be interested to hear how you like it.

No broccolini last night. We had a nasty winter storm and I didn't get home until 8pm. So we will attempt a saute tonight.
