As many of you know, I partially ruptured my achille's tendon a few weeks back. The injury was the result of my tendons being weakened by an antibiotic (Levaquin) I was taking for pneumonia back in January. Yes, it's been a difficult year thus far...

The initial rupture was in the middle of my achille's tendon on my left heel/foot. It was about the size of a nickel, but really inhibited my ability to flex my foot or comfortable put weight on it. I was given a boot to wear and followed the doctor's orders regarding the boot, crutches, and mobility exactly as they were given to me. I took the anti-inflammatory meds and kept off my foot as much as possible. However, this weekend, as I was walking (with the boot on, mind you) into a meeting, I felt another pop and then immediately couldn't walk. Thankfully, the meeting was held in a hospital and I was able to be seen in the ER quickly. It turns out I not only have I reinjured my left achille's tendon, but I also have weakening and inflammation in my right achille's. Basically, it's a mess. A really, really big mess.

So, I now have a wrapped right ankle along with more anti-inflammatory meds. And, the doctor (and later the new ortho I saw today) put me in a new, different boot. This time it's an Aircast that goes up to my knee and is holds my foot in a different position. It was the boot or it was a full cast -- from toes to above the knee. Thankfully, my orthopedist was willing to go this route for now, but I have an MRI scheduled at the start of April. If it comes back looking bad, there are only two options. One is trying out a full cast. The other? Surgery. I'm hoping not to have to deal with either. And, there's where the vibes come in.

I'm in a lot of pain and it's making finding a job even more difficult than it already is in this economy. I'm hopped up on pain meds and will be for the next few days, but they barely take the edge off and I'm just uncomfortable. Any vibes you could spare would be most appreciated.

Meanwhile, don't forget to apply for disability, at least talk to your doctor about it... It doesn't need to be permanent, by the way, but if you can't work because of an injury, you can apply for disability.

I know how painful foot injuries can be. I have tendonosis and plantar fasciitis in my left foot. Luckily, its getting better.

I hope you see relief and your MRI comes back good.
