Hi there everyone!

I just joined last week and thought I would share the story of my darling fuzzy child, Naomi.
My ex was driving through Atlanta one day and something caught his eye while he was at a traffic light. It was a tiny black tail swishing around from under a pile of leaves. The leaves had collected on the side of the road on a curb. He got out of his car, ran over to it, saw what it was, and immediately called me. I'll never forget the conversation.
Him: "Hey honey, do you you know anything about kittens?"
Me: "Yeah, I was a vet tech for 2 years. What do you want to know?"
Him: "I'll be home in 15 minutes" click.
Sure enough, 15 minutes later he comes running up the stairs and hands me a lunch bag, with this little tiny 5 inch long ball of fur inside of it. It looked up me with it's big blue-grey eyes and hissed at me something fierce. I fell completely in love. I sent my ex to the store for unflavored pedialyte, soy based baby formula, an eye dropper and a bottle. I grabbed a dry wash cloth and wrapped her up in it so she couldn't scratch or bite and started purring while holding her close to my heart. Within a few minutes she calmed down and fell asleep on me. I got a chance to look her over good. She was cold, dehydrated, emaciated, she had worms, fleas, and ear mites, and she was so dirty her fur was starting to mat even though she was a short hair. You could tell this poor little girl had been through alot. She was only about 3 1/2 to 4 weeks old. The problem was that I had to be extremely careful because she was a stray and I was 4 months pregnant. Out came the rubber gloves.
I fed her every hour, made her go to the bathroom, bathed her, and cuddled with her, and trimmed her nails. After a few hours, if I put her down, she would cry until I picked her back up. She was in love

(5 weeks old and already posing for the camera! She weighed 3/4 of a pound in this pic)

Within a couple weeks the fleas and mites were gone. She was still too small to get treated for the worms. I already had her tested for other internal parasites. She was clear except for the worms. As son as I could, the worms were treated

(Naomi at 7 weeks old)

My little kitten grew up so fast! When I gave birth to my daughter I realized I could not have asked for a better fuzzy child. She is so wonderful with my baby. Naomi would walk up and lick my baby, nuzzle her, and cuddle with her. She is the sweetest kitten I have ever met! I am so glad that she came into my life.

(Naomi at 1 1/2 years old, pausing from playing with a coin she found)

And she always smiles at me all the time.

(this is a real picture of her belly. it has a smiley face on it)

She is 2 years old now. I love her to death. She is still as sweet and affectionate as the day she came into my life. She's the best fuzzy child a mom could ever hope for
