I love my job however there are things and people that can make it rough to deal with. In doing the bird cages both in front and in the New Arrival(new animals that come into the store) room we have to destroy any eggs that the birds lay. This is so hard last week one of the guys cracked one by mistake and a baby dove fell out, it lived for a few minutes then died. It was horrible, I cried. This week it was my turn I was doing the new arrival room, and we have two newborn finches back there. I'm the only one that ever checks out the nest. There are two mothers sitting on them the other mother has two eggs in there that will likely hatch in a couple of days, I could not bring myself to throw those eggs out so I left them in the nest. When I was doing the floor cages, another mother finch had two eggs, I took them and laid them in the other nest in the New Arrival room, I just didn't have the heart to throw them away. No one knows this but me and now you guys. I needed to get it off my chest.

The people I work with, I like them as people, however I do not like working most of them are lazy or just plain ignorant. One of the girls placed a happy hut on top of a panther gecko killing it instantly, it was completely flat when I got in there the next morning to feed the little guys. This same girl put about 30 algae eaters in the same tank selling them for 5.99 each. The come separated and labeled as to what kind they are. She had the small ones that are supposed to be sold for 2.99 in with the ones for 5.99 selling them as the same type. This same girl left me a very rude note about how to properly feed the fish. I have no idea what to do with her. Any Advice?

Thanks everyone

Here... or There... Hmmm
Oh gosh... I don't know what to do about her. That's so sad about the birds and the gecko though...
Is she a supperior to you or just a co-worker? Is there a higher up managment person that you could talk to maybe about the 2 incidents that happened with her? I hope no matter what things get better for you honey!

Thanks
, She is just a co-worker, I'm actually training right now to be her manager...hopefully soon something will be worked out, I talked to my supervisor about her and basically he said he had no idea why she was still there, he doesn't make the hiring and firing decisions but said if he did he would have fired her by now, I found out that there has been at least 6 other accidents with her and killing other animals. Its quite frustrating. On the bright side of things, today when I checked the finch nest we have 3 healthy newborns and one more on the way looks like he/she should arrive sometime within the next hour or so

If there is a personnel file I her I would make sure her errors are documented in case firing is warranted sometime in the near future.

Trapped in the catroom! ;o)
I would make a formal complaint to have on file and also get a copy of it for yourself. Thats something that shouldnt go without consequences. Is there a district manager or anyone you can go over head with your manager who knows about this stuff too????

There might be someone I could go to like a District Manager or someone but for the most part from what I've noticed people seem to cover for her. Its quite frustrating.

I would go to District and tell them that you want to file a formal complaint and that you and your supervisor know of other situations such as this and you want it on the record that you told them of this situation as you are worried about other incidents involving her in the future and you do not want to be told you did nothing to help stop the incidents!

Hopefully it helps!

Definately go to a district manager especially if you have another authority figure who would be willing to go with you to back you up. Stuff like that should be reported and make sure you would get copies of everything that would be put in writing for yourself...You never know what could get 'lost'.
