There is currently a power struggle going on in my house - a quest for dominance and control of the throne!
By throne, of course, I am referring to the one in the bathroom.
I have to wage war each time I need to "use the facilities" in the second floor bathroom here. Waging war involves lifting a yowling, grumpy ball of black fur named Queen Sophie-Ann off the lid of the commode, then quickly getting onto it before she can reclaim her place. She immediately begins plotting retribution, peering at me from inside the bathtub with eyes gone all-black and ears twisted sideways. The second I vacate her seat of power and replace the lid, she speeds back into place, huffily curling herself into a regal ball of disdain, and keeping a careful eye on me to ensure there are no more bathroom coups in the works.
I'm not sure what the allure is. Is it the cushy padded lid on the toilet seat? Is it the placement of the "throne" right next to the only window with a cat-safe screen, which is therefore left open? Is she simply living up to the name I gave her (after a fictional vampire queen) and taking control of the only "throne" in the house?
Regardless of her motivations, I have come to the conclusion that while I may occasionally win a battle, I have no hopes of winning the war!
