I am very worried about one of my ferals, Rex who I think is male. We never managed to trap him and now he's walking with a very bad limp- he uses his front paws for support and kind of hops to the food.

What makes him difficult to trap is: he's rarely the first to the bowl (we've trapped others multiple times), he doesn't stick around for very long when he's there, and he doesn't always show up. We gave up on trying to trap him a while back, but he seems to need vet care urgently so I'm going to try again. Do I have any other options if he won't go into the trap?

Could you possibly try a drop trap instead of a Havahart? That would give you more control on who you catch (although you may catch more than 1.)

Good luck!

Do you need a link to making one? There are several threads here. I haven't been around a lot recently, so if you want to search yourself, I know Sarahp posted one not too long ago that didn't look difficult to make.

Thanks! I didn't know about making drop traps, I'll look up how to make one and try it if I can't get him this evening.
