They refused to eat, well Nuts especially wouldn't eat in the bathroom.

I gave up and tossed their bowl in their normal spot in the living and they both attacked their bowls like we had been starving them, so they were hungry they just didn't like the eating arrangement. I will also will leave them down at all times. They get 1/4c each in their bowls in the morning and 1/4 c each in the evening. If Attitude starts to gain weight or Nuts loses I'll have a talk with the vet over how much I should be feeding them and how to correct issues with it.

It's the best I can do. This isn't doing them any good if they refuse to eat.

hopefully this works or I might just lose my mind.

IMO, when you start stressing yourself and the cats out too much over a 'perfect' diet plan, it's time to relax a little, talk to the vet about amounts if need be, and just let go. Nothing good happens when no one enjoys dinner time at all, and what works for kitty A may totally backfire with kitty B.

Good luck, take a deep breath, and try to eat a little yourself - I bet your stomach has been tied up in knots over this whole situation.

I only fret about "special" diets ie CRF , liver, allergy

I wasn't stressing about it. I was worried about the fact that they didn't seem to want to eat. I was obviously worried that one or both might be sick and thus not eating but that was the only thing that was bugging me.

Like I said I'll see how they do with the measured free feeding. Like I said feeding on a schedule totally did not work for them.
