I'm curious:

How often do you get away from home? Whether it be a night out with friends, or an overnight, or whatever? ( not talking just going to the gym, I'm meaning somewhere not a "usual")

Ummm...almost never? We went to Colorado for the weekend about a month ago for hubby's work, but before that it had been a LONG time.

Well, we often go out to eat on Fridays with the in-laws - though not every Friday. Occasionally (maybe 2-3 times a year) will go see a movie. And will usually go see a couple concerts a year. If they're in OKC we can drive back after, if in Tulsa we have to stay overnight. We never leave home for more than a full day.

And that's about it. We're boring people that like our quiet evenings at home and being left alone on the weekends.

It seems to come in clumps. All of a sudden, lately, people want to get together for dinner, drinks. I've got separate groups of friends - and each separate group has done a "let's get together for dinner" thing within the past few weeks.

I actually need a break, because I like my quiet evenings at home with my kitty.....really, really like them.

DH gets away more than me. He has to travel for business/union stuff. I don't fly, nor do I get a lot of vacation, so I stay at home with the cats. We do have things planned throughout the year though. Some are weekend get-aways; others are for several days or a week.

We try not to eat in restaurants that much, only for special events. I enjoy cooking and meals out are just too expensive. And that's pretty much my choice, although DH agrees with me.

We don't go to the movies, but sometimes, we'll have a movie night at home where we'll rent either from a video store or from the cable company. I'll make up some appetizer-type foods and we'll nosh while watching the movies.

We do get together with friends for a game night once a month and we always have a good time. Last time we did that, there were ten of us, so it was a lot of fun. Other times, we'll play cards with another couple. Things like that.

Crap! We're old!

Ummm, maybe a couple of times a month. I don't go out NEARLY as much as I used to. I've become very much a homebody as well.

Not too often for me. I did go out last night, but I don't do that very often. I am going to Las Vegas in a week and a half! I've never been on a plane if that tells you how often I go anywhere good lol.

We're both more homebodies and tend not to go out much unless it's an occasion for someone else. We don't often do stuff just for us.

Lately we've been home a lot because we're both working 6 day weeks. Usually though, we get away from home 1-2x a month. Looking forward to taking a "get-away-from-here" weekend to Savannah, Atlanta, or Myrtle Beach soon, just to get a break. Then this August, we're driving to Colorado & hopefully will sight see other areas. That's the year's big trip.

We try to have a night or weekend away every 2-3 months, he spends more time away than I do since he occasionally travels to cottage country for work and will stay at the cottage - we don't get much time in the summer as its his busiest time for work - we try to do a date night once a month too, but will sometimes have dinner out as much as once a week depending on friends plans and if we can be bothered cooking

I get away for conferences a couple of times a year. Other than that, not very much. Maybe once a month or so I'll go out to dinner.

I go away for a two day Convention every year, and I enjoy that because it's the only "vacation" I get. Also, I usually go out with my club whenever we decide to go out to eat.

Here... or There... Hmmm
Very rarely. And since me and DH have been together (almost 13 years) I can count on one hand the number of nights we have spent apart! And each time, we were on the phone, on the computer or etc talking together! It's odd!

This sounds a lot like us. Our families (his on the Island, mine in Quebec/Ontario) have pretty much stopped suggesting we should visit -- it's a waste of good breath.
As for going out, maybe as many as four movies a year; dinner for my birthday, ad hoc with friends, or the occasional cook's night off. We met DH's sister on the other side of town for lunch one day while I was home during the Olympics -- that was unusual.

We dont go anywhere just for ourselves. Us going anywhere normally consists of either grocery shopping, me taking BF where he needs to go for his supplies, BFs brothers or dads house or MAYBE BFs step brothers house. But 9 times out of 10 everyone comes to our house which doesnt bother me that much cuz I dont have to drive.

To me, away from home means out of town. We take a day trip to "the big city" several times a year when DH is on vacation. The last time we actually spent any time away from home would have been an overnight trip to Chicago a couple of years ago. I hate to travel and am a real home-body, so I'm pretty content to stay right here.

Our favorite vacation is a cruise. We try to go once a year or so .. since we live in Florida we don't have to worry about air fare, and manage to find the best buys possible. When you break it down it's really an inexpensive vacation since you have all your meals, entertainment , etc. If you're not a drinker or gambler it's a good buy. If you like to drink and hit the casino then the cost can skyrocket.

aside from that we're pretty much homebodies. Get a DVD from library on the weekends, I love to read, go out to lunch rather than dinner.
