If your cats have gone to a holistic/eastern medicine vet...

Was this the cat's primary veterinarian? Why or why not?

How did this vet/clinic differ from conventional vets/clinics?

Would your recommend them? Why or why not?

What pleasantly surprised you, and what disappointed you?

Can you summarize the clinic's capabilities and limitations?

Did your experiences with the holistic vet change your views on holistic medicine? If so, how so?

Anything other comments on your experiences?

Thanks

The Western herb/ conventional who does holistic first vet is all their primary vet

Eastern / Chinese /Oriental vet is a consult and works with the primary

secondary clinic are not holistic vets but do well

Why or why not?

Primary office looks like a home NO formal exam room

Oriental one also looks like a home but has more of a funk suy (correct spelling) feeling .. not as bright

Would your recommend them?
I recommend both alot between them I have had many HAPPY EXTRA years with my chronically ill fur kids
Why or why not?

anytime the vet office does not scare a semi feral you know your in a good place

Can you summarize the clinic's capabilities and limitations?
second clinic works with primary on surgery or things like xrays

Did your experiences with the holistic vet change your views on holistic medicine? If so, how so?
I actually got acupuncture for me

Anything other comments on your experiences?

They have (she was like Sharkys who does holistic mixed with conventional), but I really didn't like her, she runs a secondary business herself so it can be impossible to get an appointment with her as you never know her schedule. She pushed raw feeding, even though I told her I agreed with raw feeding but had tried it and it just did not work with my cats.

She has a full service clinic as far as small clinics go around here, she does not do in house bloodwork or xrays etc and recommends a vet I do not like at all for surgeries, which I think may have been what put me off her to begin with as she does have the ability to do minor surgeries there. She does seem to be an expert in pet massage and the cats did like her - and Magnum can turn into a devil cat at the vet

No, I was already open to holistic care for them, and realise its not the profession - just the vet

She does come highly recommended by friends, maybe I have been spoiled by my vet, I love her, and only took a cat to the holistic vet when my vet disagreed with me that one of them just didnt seem right (you know when you sense there is something off about them but can't pinpoint it)

Bumps seemed really depressed, he is usually cuddly and playful but was suddenly quite sedentary and didnt come running for treats. I think two vet visits, one with the other 4 cats in tow (the holistic vet wanted to see how the others acted with him - 5 cats to the vet at once = not a good idea) - the holistic vet could not find anything wrong with him either and he got over it in a week or so

In response to Sharky's post however, my convential vet is the one who will work with semi ferals and ferals and has her clinic set up as a little cottage instead of a typical practise
