do you get to sleep on? I'm only asking because Marshmallow likes to sleep where I do. He is a tiny creature, and still looks like a kitten though he's full grown. Barely a cat at all. Yet somehow he pushes me to the edge of the mattress every night. I guess he's like an ant. He can move objects much larger and heavier than himself.
I move him over, but the next thing you know, I'm back on the edge again. Sometimes I think I can feel him pushing me with his little paws. And last night, he took a bit of an attitude with me. He doesn't bite, but he made this disgruntled noise when I moved him for about the fifth time. I have to have sleeping room! I guessing I only have 10% of a queen size bed. I'd make a poll on this, but I don't know how.

0.00000000000001% it seems like!

I'm usually hanging off the bed... between all four cats and the border collie... Maybe about 1/5 of the bed... spoiled rotten pets!

But, I still love them!

I'm not sure, but I think there is a poll option at the bottom of the screen when you first start a thread.

I always had the same problem with my two siamese. They used to lie in the middle of the bed, all streached out. So, when it came time for me to go to sleep there was never any room. I asked them several times where they expected me to sleep, but they just looked at me dumbfounded.

I think I am lucky, I seem to be able to manage 1/3 of the bed for myself. 33%. That has always seemed strange to me, because on the other hand, a cat is about 1/10 my size. It's just not fair!

DH and I get 1/3 each if we're lucky, Cammy gets 1/3 or more if she chooses, Abbey curls up at my feet and barely takes any room!

Mikey loves to take my pillow and half the blankets. Milo then proceeds to take whatever remaining blankets there are. Thankfully, I have bunkbeds. If they both claim the top bunk (which is my normal bed) I just move down

Believe it or not, I actually get to sleep on at least 75% of the bed. And, usually, it's even more than that. But, it's not for lack of having kitties and doggies sleeping with me.

Cassidy sleeps at the foot of my bed along with Emory. Em usually sleeps on her pad and Cass just hangs out on top of the comforter. Delaney is almost always in one of the various cat beds in my room and Finn curls up near my chest. He doesn't take much room though as he tends to spoon
. My one dog, Maddie, sleeps under the blankets either near my feet or in the crook of my knee. And, Mackenzie has been sleeping with my roommate as of late. She's usually my nap buddy, though.

Even when I was sleeping on the sofa these past couple of months, I still had plenty of room. Now that I have my bed back, I'm not giving it up for anyone -- not even the pups or the cats! Okay, you know I would, but let's hope they remain content as they are
.

Maybe a third of the bed? That's DH's fault, though, as the cats are by far easier to move and more mindful.

I have one cat and a double bed. Here is how most nights go:

1. I go to bed.
2. Holland realizes that I'm really not going to play with her anymore and jumps on the bed and goes under the covers.
3. Holland attaches herself to my leg, sometimes kneading (all my pajama pants have little claw holes in them), sometimes not.
4. I contort myself in whatever way necessary in order to pet her until I fall asleep.
5. I start to wake up. Holland sees that I'm waking up, and proceeds to sit on my chest/shoulders (depending on how I'm laying) and mews at me until I get up to feed her.
6. On days where I want to sleep in, I feed her and go back to bed.
7. I wake up again a couple hours later to find that all 6 1/2 pounds of her have somehow commandeered the entire bottom half of the bed.
8. Holland sees that I'm awake again, and proceeds to sit on my chest/shoulders (depending on how I'm laying) and stares at me until I get up to play with her.

Talk about being owned by a cat...

Bella is very polite and "allows" me to have about 65% of the bed. When I was owned by my previous cat family of four, I was actually pushed out of bed several times. What can you do when you're out numbered? I spent many nights on the couch.

There is an old thread somewhere with Paint pictures of where the cats sleep on the bed

We don't get much of the bed with 5 cats sleeping on it, Autumn sleeps between our pillows, Bumper beside me pushing me towards the middle, Quincy in between us which pushes my BF towards the edge and two at our feet making us squish up. Half way through the night we usually wake up and poke them off the bed but they are usually back up soon enough or just refuse to move

Lucky me, I get 95%! It's a twin bed and Topaz will curl up next to my pillow so I can pet her. Ari doesn''t sleep with me but will sleep on my bed when I'm not in it.

I start off with 45%, my husband has 50% and Newt curls up close to me & claims 5% (she's only a very small cat). At some point during the night the percentages change to my husband having 33%, Newt having 62% and I have only 5%. That's what it feels like anyway. I have no idea how such a small cat manages to claim so much of the bed.

That's how it is with Marshmallow! He is so small, yet so pushy!
(I remember when we first adopted him...all he had to do was look at Daisy and Speck and they would take off. Pushy little fellow, he is!) DH will sleep however he has to so the cats can be comfortable. I take the other approach, thinking that I should be comfortable.
Which leads to virtually no sleep and getting almost pushed out of bed anyway. It's a power struggle...there's me, who thinks it's all about me, and a four legged bully...who thinks it's all about him!

A State of Confusion
It really depends on the season. In the Summer, I get close to 100% of the bed because it's too warm for the kitties to want to snuggle up with me. Tre is the only one that sleeps with me when it's warm and he just curls up in a corner of the bed as far away from me as possible. In the Winter, I get maybe 25% of the bed. I usually crawl in first and lay on my back. Then Tre comes up and attaches himself to my left hip and Promise attaches herself to my right hip. Tiny and/or Thufir will usually sleep between my legs. It's actually pretty cozy as long as I don't want to move.
If I should happen to get up for some reason, I find that one or more of my cats has moved into my spot. After that, I have to either a) move them, b) try to sleep on a tiny sliver of mattress at the edge that they left me, or c) go sleep on the couch. I've taken option c) more than once.

My wife and I are having sleeping problems because we are left with very little space for ourselves as we sleep with three cats on the bed and one of them weighs an astounding 18 lbs and the Vet says he's not really overweight, he's just very, very big! Anyway he dominates the entire bed!
I'm wandering if we aren't being over-respectful with our cats because we are not getting enough sleep; unlike us they do get to nap during the day !
