Taffy (cat) and Buster (dog/puppy)

Lets start with Bubbles, and Bollo. Our 2 other cats, who at first, was very wary of the puppy when we first got him home.

It took Bubbles about 20min to come down and now dose not care about the dog. the dog is very scared of bubbles, and wont play if he is around.

Bollo, well he loves his food, and dose not care as long as he gets fed. It took him a day or 2 to come down.

The problem, we got a labrador retriever as they seem best to get with cats.

Our dog is not going to move out, Bollo and Taffy will come with me, Bubbles will go with my sister. The dog will stay with my mum, he loves her very much at just 5 months old.

Taffy will come down, if I pick him up and take him down, if Bollo or Bubbles goes with him, or are already down stairs. Whenever Buster is around, Taffy will howl at him, its like he is scared, but wants to warn the dog. Whenever he dose this, Bollo and Bubbles will go into attack mode.

When they both go into this mode, my cats act like a pack again, they will corner Buster, and make him feel unloved.

Meanwhile, Bollo and Buster will eat out of the same bowl, drink out of the same bowl at the same time.

How can I get Taffy to do this?

I just want taffy to be able to go downstairs on his own, without myself, sleep downstairs on his sofa again, and not worry about the dog.

Any Ideas?

I don't understand this part. Where are you, Bollo, and Taffy going? Are you moving? Why does Bubbles have to go with your sister, I thought he was ok with the dog?

Taffy may never 'love' the new puppy, but he can learn to tollerate/trust him. I would get a baby gate and temporarily put the dog in one of the bigger rooms, like maybe the kitchen.

This way Taffy can see that the dog can not get him, and will feel safe enough to walk around the house again. When Taffy seems to adjust well to that, I would start letting the puppy walk around he house for short amounts of time with supervision. I would increase the amount of 'puppy free time' very slowly so that Taffy has time to adjust, until he is ok with the puppy being loose all day.

I am 21, and don't plan to live with parents for the rest of Taffy's life (15 years or more).

I will bring Taffy downstairs, and he is fine if he is on the side, he will growl and hiss at the dog, where Bollo, from the same litter who is a braver cat in general, will quite happily sit next to the dog as long as he gets food.

If I am right next to Taffy, normally touching him, he will lay down on the sofa like he used to, unless the dog is not in the same room, which case he will lay down on his own. Bollo again dose this without a care.

Bubbles our oldest cat, same mother and father, as Bollo and Taffy, well, lets say if he walks into a room, with the dog, the dog will try and leave any way possible without getting anywhere near Bubbles, he is a very scared dog.

The Puppy stays with my mum all day everyday, so Taffy knows that he is safe.
